Better and before any other Kansas City media outlet . . . We offered readers a glimpse into how this crooked ambulance billing deal went down.
Tonight here's the Kansas City mainstream media aftermath which doesn't really do anybody any good after the fact . . .
- NBC Action News: Workers pack City Hall over ambulance billing
- Newspaper: KC Council votes to outsource ambulance billing
- Pitch: Kansas City Council approves contract to outsource ambulance billing
Votes:
Wagner - Aye
Ford - No
Davis - Aye
Johnson - Aye
Curls - No
Reed - Absent, would have been no
Glover - Aye
Marcason - Aye
Circo - Aye
Brooks - No
Taylor - Absent, probably would have been no.
Sharp - No
James - Aye
Update with this perspective in defense of Scott Wagner . . . "Wagner had always been for the contract; he was not a swing vote. Ford and Taylor wanted to study the issue further. Reed was always against the contract, but didn't even bother to show up for the vote. Brooks was originally going to be absent, but rearranged his schedule in order to accommodate this vote.
Final vote: 7 to 4.
Long story short, there were no swing votes. I don't know why someone is trying to throw Wagner under the bus on this. "
##############
Now . . .
Here's just a bit of EXCLUSIVE PERSPECTIVE before we really get into it . . .
CHECK OUT KANSAS CITY INSIDERS CALLING OUT "TEAM SLY" FOR THIS SHAMEFUL AMBULANCE DEAL!!!
A Sentiment From A City Hall Insider Watching: "You know, as I watched this vote today, with so many from the community against it and speaking up for city workers - I noticed that some members of the council didn't even want to look at us. They didn't want to pay attention to their own constituents and instead they were focused solely on the mayor. Like he was their boss and not the voters . . . If the Mayor offered to sacrifice the every first born child in this city, they would go along with it. Council members Circo, Marcason and Johnson are about pleasing Mayor James and not listening to the community."
For better or worse and from a great many diverse Kansas City communities, this statement has been confirmed and often pretty much repeated in many different contexts and vernaculars.
Something to think about tonight.
Developing . . .
As long as he's got job connections at KCP&L and Burns and Mac then nobody is going to stand up to him.
ReplyDeletePrivatization is better than paying for lazy and no show government employees that never can be fired
ReplyDeleteYeah, so much better to pay corporations with no pensions who loot our city with accounting tricks.
ReplyDeleteIdiot
I forgot. The purpose of government is to confiscate money from everyone to give generous pensions to select few who don't do anything. Full retirement at age 55? Unfucking real. It's theft
ReplyDeleteYou should at the costs of maintaining 4 fire fighters on each unit. Their salaries are much better than most government employees.
ReplyDeleteRemember vote yes for more taxes on August 5.
ReplyDeleteRich muthafuggas need mo money an your dumb ass needs to pay more sales tax.
Can't wait for them to make yu feel bad in thinking you can't afford any more nickel and diming our asses to death tax increase.
Crooked? When it was done legally through the legislative process established by law?
ReplyDeleteYou may decry the mainstream media all you want but at least they don't have an hilarioualy gigantic agenda-driven bias the way you do.
TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! USING UNNAMED SOURCES, WILD ASSUMPTIONS AND PIGGYBACKING ON THE WORK OF OTHER MEDIA MAKES ME "BETTER"!!!

Kansas City Sucks more and more everyday, I am just glad I live in the burbs and dont work or shop in KC so I can sleep every night knowing I dont give my money to that regime of corruption called Kansas City Missouri.

ReplyDeleteThank you for clairifying that Wagner was going to fuck over the city employees from the start and wasn't going to be a swing vote.
ReplyDeleteCindy corporate whore Circo wasn't a swing vote either!
ReplyDeletePeople are murdered in the street, children are physically, sexually, and psychologically abused, the homeless are always with us, children in the KCSD cannot pass even the simplest competentcy test. But let's worry about the billing practices of the ambulance service. It sounds like California.
ReplyDeleteSomebody should do the math, Wagner was most certainly the swing vote, if Reed and Taylor vote no, like they would have, it passes 7-6, with Wagner being 7. Just because they walked and the vote didn't look close doesn't mean it wasn't. This is backroom politics 101. Wagner says he is going to vote with the Mayor for his position on finance, they other two cover for him by not voting, and then they tell the firefighters it wouldn't have mattered. Wagner has always been a spineless jellyfish.
ReplyDeleteWagner is a sellout like most of the Council. He needs to be replaces. Like the rest of the council.
ReplyDelete3 Yeats from now , you sucks will be complaining. If not about light tail, it will be something else.
ReplyDeleteAnd streetcars will be exceeding ridership expectations, the core will continue growing, and brookside (the real citizens, not the carpetbaggers from Maryland and parkville and their 10 fools) will be cla moring for an extension on the trolley trail.
ReplyDelete@ 11:27. You apparently don't know what a swing vote is. A swing vote is a person on the fence about an issue whose vote will determine the outcome of an issue being advanced or defeated. Saying that Wagner was the swing vote is like saying James, Circo, Marcason, Glover, Johnson or Davis was a swing vote. There were 7 strong Ayes, including Wagner. If you bothered to look at how the finance committee voted on this issue, you would know that Wagner voted with the majority to recommend this ordinance a few weeks ago. Wagner's vote is no surprise. If anything, Taylor's vote was most up in the air. Even if Reed and Taylor voted "no" then it would still be 7-6. It would have passed regardless. Hence, the observation that there was no swing vote. Maybe you are the one who should take "politics 101," which if you ever attended college you would know that such a course is not offered. Dumbass.
ReplyDelete@ 11:10, okay, that's why they all will get jobs to stay on with the city (in that same labor class, with the same union benefits and pay), in addition to being offered jobs with intermedix. So, how are they being "fucked over" again??
ReplyDeleteThe city will outsource as much as it can. Look to diminished services and very few city jobs in the future.
ReplyDeleteAnd what excuse do these people have for not showing up to vote? NOT ACCEPTABLE!
What was troy schulte's opinion? Was he one of Sly's minions?
I'm not sure what all this has to do with the streetcar, but since 12:50am brought it up, what exactly ARE the ridership projections for the streetcar?
ReplyDeleteJust to have a baseline to be able to actually measure "success".
What district does Wagner represent? Not the 1st! I hope he is enjoying his time in the sun because he has no future.
ReplyDeleteWhat district does Wagner represent? Not the 1st! I hope he is enjoying his time in the sun because he has no future.
ReplyDeleteSo ridership will measure success even though the product is free to the users? I could build a huge company if I gave my product away.
ReplyDeleteDefense of Wagner? As in what? That he's one of the Mayor's butt-boys/girls along with russ, davis, cindy, jan and recent convert-jim? they all have bright futures as "yes" men and women.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck does this have to do with a streetcar?
ReplyDeleteYou guys are obsessed.
9:01AM Hey Mr. Dumfuk, it has to do with saving money to spend on the worst of all city schemes a streetcar to nowhere.
ReplyDeleteGit a brain jerkwad or quit typing.
