Check out this Monday reminder that the "Heartland" is just as crooked as any place else . . .
KY3: FBI documents show widespread SW Missouri vice
Deets..
"Hundreds of pages of reports from an FBI investigation into illegal gambling in Joplin and the surrounding areas show a wide-ranging vice operation that involved influential people in southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas ... The Joplin Globe obtained more than 600 pages of documents in response to a Freedom of Information request the newspaper filed in 2012 because the investigation had led to the firing of a Joplin police officer and indictments against three bookmakers. The documents reveal how the gambling investigation grew into a probe of drug trafficking, prostitution and public corruption."
Now, on the bright side, there were some low-level busts on this one BUT nothing that doesn't change our minds that it's always a bad idea to veer too far from I-70.
More in a bit . . .
Should prostitution be legal?
ReplyDeleteGambling, I am shocked.
ReplyDeletePootie Tang busted in Joplin ???
ReplyDeleteSo glad the FBI saved us all from the scourge of gambling and hookers in the sticks.
ReplyDeleteWell lets shut the state down over whores and some folk sports betting. In the mean time the ATF is still running illegal gun operations and they are the designers of the crimes.
ReplyDeleteI guess if the FBI is too lazy to investigate the VA this is the kind of spin they spew.
FBI investigation ended in August 2011.
