SHOCK!!! MAYOR SLY FAKES EAST SIDE DEVELOPMENT AS TOY TRAIN STREETCAR REMAINS ON TRACK TO THE PLAZA!!!
Yesterday, we had a very important BREAKING NEWS CONVERSATION about the Toy Train court win this week . . . Now it's time to focus on the words and promises of Kansas City Mayor Sly regarding the Streetcar Part Deux:
Kansas City Mayor Sly Seyz: “It only makes sense that we expand the economic development already seen around the downtown starterline to other parts of our City. So far, over 30 new or renovation projects worth three-quarters of a billion dollars are already in process or planning phases and more is on the way in the downtown corridor. It’s my hope that Kansas Citians will agree that the investment is worth the pay off. I’m particularly excited about the possibilities around this for the East side, considering three out of the four transit corridors are connecting the East side with the downtown corridor. Today’s decision means we can move this conversation, and the future of transportation in Kansas City, forward.”
TKC FACT CHECK . . .
OKAY, HOW DOES BUILDING OUT THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR TO THE PLAZA AND UMKC HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE EAST SIDE?!?! THE MAYOR HAS TAKEN TO OUTRIGHT FICTION IN HIS PRESS STATEMENTS AND NOBODY'S CHALLENGING HIM!!!
The "Main Street Plus" route is the only Streetcar Part Deux track the Mayor has worked on and his rejection in Brookside has drawn fear and a peek behind the curtain when it comes to the waning popularity of Mayor Sly James.
We'll stipulate that UMKC is kinda on the East side but really doesn't offer much benefit to the community other than maintenance jobs. Still, the cynical attempt to disguise a toy train route to the Plaza as East Side development offers a glimpse at the Mayor's disingenuous position on the streetcar.
Developing . . .
I thought he was the most popular in KC history? He doesn't need to lie!
ReplyDeleteNo, he doesn't NEED to lie, he does it because he LIKES to.
ReplyDeleteHe only lies when his lips are moving.
You fool Tony, the 3 are Indy Ave, Linwood and Prospect bus line. Plaza/UMKC is the only one NOT on east side. The key is the how he words it. He said "transit corridors" not streetcar corridors.
ReplyDeleteSpain is gonna love KC
ReplyDelete"The key is the how he words it."
ReplyDeleteIs that the key to spot most liars?
No, it's the key to learning to read and understand our language. I know that's a tough ask with this blog.
DeleteI'd say that when it comes to manipulation and twisting of words to fit an agenda this blog has no rival.
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteA lying nigger.
Someone alert the media!
Tony you racist pig. Why is it when someone cleans up a vermin infested hovel on the Westside you call it harmful "gentrification;" however, on the Eastside you call for "economic development?"
ReplyDeleteEconomic development would just displace affordable housing for poor people, using the same twisted-fuck logic that you assign to the blighted Westside.
Why do you hate black people Tony? Bigot!
Tony doesn't hate niggers, I do! This train shit is just another way of hauling their black asses to the Plaza (or what's left of it..).
ReplyDeleteThose are not rats, those are pets!
ReplyDeleteGee, I just can't wait to jump on the trolley, ride over to Independence Ave and see all the economic development around the "el burrito pedos" stand.
ReplyDeleteI like how the Mayor continues to give the Toy Train credit for development projects that were on the books before he EVER EVEN CAME INTO OFFICE.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet some folk at City Hall think its worth the "pay off."
ReplyDeleteYour forgetting David Johnson 8:56.
ReplyDeleteMr. Save The Trolley Track Trail Johnson - AKA - KC Streetcar Supporters Brookside Waldo SKC
How can something that destroys wealth create "economic development"? It very well may bring some new business along the line but that will only cause a decline in business elsewhere. If the wealth is not there you are simply shuffling it around, destroying some in the process. The toy train is the economic development equivalent of the perpetual motion machine.
ReplyDeleteDavid is not that good. He just thinks he is. Of course you look at his dumb ass followers and that explains most of it.
ReplyDeleteToy Train to the Plaza = Plaza Demolition
ReplyDeleteSly sold us out. He promised us economic development and gave us nothing but tax increases.
ReplyDeleteIf Sly really wanted "economic development" on the east side, why didn't he insist that Burns and Mac build their headquarters addition east of Troost or NOT GET ANY SUBSIDIES?
ReplyDeleteThere's no plan or vision from city hall. Just endlessly schmoozing the insider swells and paying som eother people off.
So who's next?
As soon as the robberies, assaults and murders at Independence Ave Streetcar Stops get reported in the first week of operations, the Streetcar program will grind to a halt.
ReplyDeleteHow do we homeowners get those $500 a year property tax deals people downtown get on expensive condo's and lofts none of us will ever be able to afford.
ReplyDeleteWho's ass do you have to kiss?
Speaking of it looks Polsinelli will pay about $83 a year streetcar special assessment for West Edge or whatever the fuck it's called now according to assessment map. The surrounding neighbor building are a different story. They are getting reamed.
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do is look at this ass clown to know he's a liar and a fraud. KCMO was dumb enough to vote him in, so they deserve just what they get from him.
ReplyDeleteSly will always be a Jar Head!
ReplyDeleteDifferent day, same story.
ReplyDeleteGet something, anything new to grinch about.
If you lemmings would stop taking Tony's bait, he might move on.
How do you know when Sly is lying?
ReplyDeleteHis lips are moving.
"So far, over 30 new or renovation projects worth three-quarters of a billion dollars are already..." How many without substantial subsides from City Hall???
ReplyDeleteDowntown is quickly becoming a bedroom community for the jobs in JoCo. How many new jobs has the streetcar brought to Downtown? Sure a temporary construction jobs for the folks that live in Raymore and Blue Springs, but zero permanent jobs for Downtown residents.
ReplyDelete5/16/14, 10:18 AM - great observation. What about Cerner?
ReplyDeleteHopefully the public (voters) are waking up to the fact Sly's not some kind of a wizard, a supernatural being, authorized by dint of superior powers of intellect to traffic in concepts beyond the ken of the common folk.
ReplyDeleteExpansion includes Linwood and Independence. Not the that it will stop the bitching and moaning but I figured I could help you focus on dumb arguments instead if incorrect arguments. I totally just burned all you losers.
ReplyDeleteHis goal is to turn Kansas City into one ghetto at a time. Another 1 or 2 terms should do it.
ReplyDeleteI just don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteExpansion also include MAX buses on Prospect, and maybe some of you "suddenly concerned about the racial geography of KC" howlers should check the demographic mix along the Main Street corridor through midtown. Not exactly Mayberry.
ReplyDeleteBottom line, if passed, this would be the single biggest investment in urban core and minority neighborhoods in KC history.
@10:35
ReplyDeleteNice try creating a false issue. The Polsinelli building hasn't been revalued by the county. You're basing the assessment on 2013 value dumbass. If you're gonna be against something, at least understand what the fck you're talking about
Polsinelli rip off king fish. Sly's henchmen. The paid nothing in property taxes last year amd will pay less nexy year. They system is broken.
