They should have sold Zoot suits.
ReplyDeleteAnd the dominos just keep falling. Can't imagine why.
ReplyDeleteThis is why the Plaza, former jewel of KC, is no longer anything more than a suburban strip mall with pretty architecture. The majority of the stores/restaurants there now are the same chains you can find in Anycity, USA.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can find more and more of them south of 119th Street in Johnson County. Which is where their customers are.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Obviously the Plaza hasn't received enough TIFs.
ReplyDeleteMakin' way fo' dat fried chikkin joint!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they'd put in an Aunt Izzies Soul Food Kitchen in there.
ReplyDeleteLongtime fabric store CLOSED
ReplyDeleteLongtime men's clothier CLOSED
....coming soon
Plaza fountains CLOSED
Independent family-owned businesses CLOSED
You mean all those little colored kids didn't by suits for Sunday? Well at least we can ticket their auntie on her way to drop off her brood at the plaza.
ReplyDeleteJack Henry where they sold a $400 jacket that you could get at Nordstroms for $800.
ReplyDeleteAlso, would you like slacks with LOTS of pleats? They got that in spades.
Future Harold Penner / GenX Clothing double store?
With so many less Christians and fewer jobs folks just don't have places to wear suits. Maybe if they sold hobo attire.....

ReplyDeleteOPENING SOON!!! Harold Penner Plaza for men of distinkshun!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere do black people buy all that shit they wear? Are there black people stores you never hear of selling that shit?
ReplyDeleteHarold Penner has some nice clothing that is very very white looking. I am a big old boy and have a hard time finding sizes that fit. I do not care for the designs at the big and tall. I struggle to find clothing that is long enough. I can get things ordered in at brooks brothers, jcpenny, sears and burberry, but had no luck at jack henry's. Halls would order suits for me occasionally, but it was hit or miss. Everything has to be taken in or let out, so an in house tailor is a blessing. Jack Henry has none.
ReplyDeleteHarold Penner has some nice white looking clothing. It isn't all crazy. The truth is, the white people looking clothing is often marked down very cheap, and since I am a rare size, they have my size on sale. They have nice natural fibers, silks, and cotton blends. When you have to buy clothes that basketball players wear, you get to know places that sell big suits. For a person like me, 300 bucks for a suit is dirt cheap. Harold Penner has some good stuff in that range. They have no in-house tailor so it kind of sucks with no help in the sewing department.
I wear the same stuff over. I barely have enough suits to make it for a 2 week trip. I appreciate the KU basketball team for selling their suits to resale shops in Lawrence. Tall people don't have to look sloppy or messy at work.
Women have it so easy in the clothing department because they have more options.
Also, don't tell me about mens wearhouse, because those suits fall apart and the pants are cheaply made.
I don't have to dress up, but I have found that dockers pants cost just as much in my size as dress pants. It has helped my career, because I work on a sales basis. People treat me better when I am wearing a suit.
Open a black history museum at that location.
ReplyDeleteIt will be easy to do: Just fill the space with everything that looks, smells, and has the worth of shit.
