This is really just a bit of follow-up requested by avid readers of the blog . . . We already linked to Lisa Carter leaving KMBZ maybe because nobody likes the new boss over there . . .
But we checked the update on a story first reported by Bottom Line Communications and it undeservedly went under the radar. Here it is:
Carter announced (4/28/14): “I am thrilled to announce that I am the new Public Information Officer for Jackson County ! I’ll serve as the liaison w/all media outlets and coordinate media relations for the Executive Branch of Jackson County.”
Checked with her Twitter feed to confirm . . .

Now, the good news is that Lisa Carter is extremely competent, talented, competitive and will be an asset to the County . . .
However, let's be real . . .

Again, in the case of Lisa Carter . . . She is more qualified than most in Kansas City. Furthermore, as the newspaper and more than a few old school forms of media circle the toilet bowl of history, it seems that The Jackson County Exec has his pick from a pretty decent talent pool . . . But the price is that nobody really understands what happens @ The Courthouse . . . Which usually involves tax screw-ups and then Crystal Williams mentioning something about women in between trips to Cafe Trio.

Regular, everyday workers start out at $25,500. If they work real hard and survive internal county politics, why shoot, they can bring home $32,000 in 10 years.
These workers keep the county roads repaired as best they can on a TIGHT budget, inspect the area food outlets for dirty kitchens and folks not washing up after they poop, work in the tax collection department under a series of criminally incompetent directors, guard ever increasingly violent county prisoners, etc.
How much is she getting paid? And when did the advertisement go into the Star and the Call?
