TKC READER REAX: CONSIDERING THE FUTURE OF 'LOW COST' KANSAS CITY!!!

This morning we want to feature some EXCELLENT insight from one of our more BRILLIANT READERS that speaks to the disconnect betwixt the local elite and people who actually care about the future of Kansas City.

Moreover . . . This brief note once again reminds us that editoralists have lost perspective on this town and their PR WORK might not be appreciated but isn't going unnoticed.

Recently, Yael wrote this: Embrace Kansas City’s low costs to attract people and jobs

And here's a FAR MORE RELEVANT reaction . . .

YAEL

The cost of living in "low cost Kansas City" has been rapidly escalating over the past few years of the Sly "Feel Good" James administration (aided by the equally feckless council titans and Two Ton Troy Schulte).

During this time time the City debt has gone up by billions, sales taxes have been raised with more to come and the pensions of the municipal employees (future debt hidden from view by the ruling political titundum but a certainty to be added on to the tax burden of the citizens) and various big money projects are bubbling up in the cauldon of these municipal witches (the needless new, single terminal airport and the toy train to name two of the bigger, more noticeable upcoming expensive, tax consuming boondoggles).

Maybe Yael, the former Lion of the Press, but now only a shell of his old self devoted primarily to preserving his pay check at the expense of the hundreds of his former colleagues who have been pushed over the side is remembering the old, better days in the City he once ruled.

I have been mortified to watch these greedy, immoral buffoons (Yael included) march the hapless citizens towards certain fiscal Armageddon. It's going to have to be municipal angels stepping up to the public plate to stop these people from ruining what once was a pleasant, low cost City where it was easy for most people to raise a family.

Tony you get what you pay for and you want this to remain a broke-assed town with leaky pipes.

The main reason for the broken pipes and, lest we forget the uncountable metal plates on the streets, is the failed leadership and boundless greed of past Mayors (the feckless Kay Barnes, Manny C, and Mark Smartwithnothinghouser to name three) and the bunch of retards and profligate spenders and sometimes felons on the City Council all if whom were elected by the citizens who as always hot exactly what they paid for... a one way ticket to financial armageddon. And while we are at it, let us not forget the Public School Czars who ran the public schools into the ground thus sealing the fate of the poor children whose parent left them in the system. And the corps of City Managers (who can forget Cauthen) who feasted on the municipal til all the while acting as the agents of the wealthy and the unions who have been slowly bleeding our City dry :( And while I'm at it, last but not least Yael T Abouhalkah who from his perch (now covered in the blood of the hundreds of co-workers that he and others in senior management sacrificed to protect their own livelihoods) at the Kansas City Star (now diminished by the demise of print media) who has been obfuscating fiddling all the while the City is going down the tubes. That's when he's not trying to be a Mayoral Kingmaker (let us not forget his role behind the scenes using the Star to crush the hapless but civic minded Alvin Brooks on behalf of Gloria Squitiro and Mark Squitiro-Flunkhouser).

A good and blessed day to all of you... Bloggers, Tony the Blogger King, Mr. Nutter, the feckless citizens who rarely even come out to vote (enshrining the political class), our new master at Black and Veatch and everyone else who is lucky enough to be able to afford a cable modem and a computer thus being able to read and absorb the oearls of wisdom to be found on TKC :)

  3. 5:53 is either of the grifter class or is just naive. Once and for all, centrally planned eco dev is a fallacy brought to you by those who benefit financially from such. By definition, a city sponsored eco dev project that succeeds is one that has enough shine remaining on it that a second round of bonds can be peddled on its back.

  4. Actually, the people who spend all the public money on subsidizing anybody with a pulse, giving money away with no discernible criteria or accountability for results, and runs around pandering to every little self-proclaimed aggrieved interest group and promising that they'll "get their fair share" are the real folks who ignore leaky pipes, not TKC.
They also ignore crime, lousy streets, plowing snow, common sense business licensing, and pretty much everything else that normal city governments try to do for the people who live in them.
By the way, how are the subsidzed new Cordish project, the new Film Commission, and the many hundreds of millions of dolaar streetcar fiasco coming?
Come to think of it, how much is the P&L District costing the taxpayers this year?

Attention anon 553... Tony is one of the good guys. Its people like him who stand between the thieving political class and the greedy big business interests and the unions who if left completely alone and un-noticed would loot and drain the City coffers inside if 12 months. I lament that this role was once played by Yael T Abouhalkah who now spends most of his time figuring out who to fire at the Star so that he can keep getting paid. He also spends alot of time prognosticating about the municipal condition although one must note that he censors the few comments that are allowed by the Star in response to his mostly clueless meanderings.

  9. Having a "poltical class" in a small mid-west town like KCMO turns out to be noghting more than a small group of low-achieving people who celebrate their own importance, suck up to the swells with the money, give away tax dollars as though the money was their own, and then run for something else.
It's a bunch of D-listers who waste tremendous amounts and pay no attention whatever to the actual workings, activities, and responsiblities of a city government.
And the same kinds of people, and in many cases the actual same people, get elected over and over again.
Who would want to have anything to do with a carnival like the one at 12th and Oak?

Speaking if Motor City, I wonder if the chief architect of Detroit's demise, Coleman Young (who is currently dead... The ultimate term limit) is buried there? Or did they ship his remains to Kansas Cify for interment? Is it possible that some of his remains got into the water supply and made its way through the leaky pipes into the water bottles of every City Council Person, Municipal Union labor leader and each of the past four mayors? If this is true, it would go a long way to explain how Mark "Auditor of the Century" Squitiro-Flunkhouser became the clueless and socially awkward retard who single handedly made Kansas City the butt of humor throughout the country.

  11. Yael indicated that KC competes with other Midwestern cities. Perhaps he should visit some of them. While they are smaller and not "major league" Omaha, Des Moines and OK City all have much lower crime, a lower cost of living, better infrastructure and a more livable community.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Its even worse in Clinton County, Missouri. Terrible place to live. Don't move there!

  13. 6:37. I won't because I have some integrity, not a lot but some.

  14. The most significant part of the editorial is that Kansas City (including the parts in Clay and Platte Counties) added 25,000 people between 1990 and 2010 while the suburbs added 375,000 residents. Of the 25,000 added within the city limits, it would be interesting to know how many were added between River Market and 31st Streets. Not that many I'd bet.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love it when the pols brag about KC adding residents because most of those added are in what was once pastures about 20 miles north of the river. And given a chance they would gladly vote to be free from KC and form their own city.

  16. I would assume most of the growth is northland. Even the most hilarious estimates put the bearded subsidized ski-hat-in-the-summer class at approx 10,000 people.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And those numbers will go down as the tax abatements expire and the hipsters grow up, reproduce and become taxpayers.

  18. we may be smaller - but we gots us a Major League Firefighters union!

our greedy firefighter union slobs are scamming taxpayers just like the big boys!

  19. What he actually meant to say was..

"Embrace living in one of Kansas City's well run suburban city's that are not in Jackson County and make sure it's one that doesn't buy water or any other services from Kansas City".

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yael is an idiot! As he continues to support suburban sprawl, the failure of high cost public transit (the streetcar) is assured!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kansas City is not low cost. It's just low rent. A total low rent district!

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, No, what he said was, Kansas City is home to a whole bunch of low life people.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The streetcar won't be finished until 2016, and its already clear to everyone who isn't a dumbshit downtown hipster or developer looking for a taxpayer-subsidized building it will be an unmitigated failure.

Where will Sly James, Russ Johnson, Troy Schulte, the gruesome twosome Sherri McIntyre and Ralph Davis, the clowncil and their chief patsies David Johnson and Matt Staub be when the bills come due?

    Long fucking gone.
