SHOW-ME THE DOUBLE-EDGED MISSOURI RIGHT-TO-WORK VOTE!!!

As usual, intense debate and political gamesmanship in Missouri don't amount to much . . .

STL Post-Dispatch: Both sides claim victory on 'right to work' vote in Missouri House

Deets on how this bill doesn't become a law . ..

"The Missouri House gave on Wednesday initial approval to a measure prohibiting employers from requiring workers to pay fees to a labor organization as a condition of employment.

But that’s not enough to move the bill supporters call “right to work” to the state Senate.

The close vote would not be enough for the House to pass the measure, which would place it on the August 2014 ballot. To pass a bill, a constitutional majority of 82 representatives is needed. The vote was 78 to 68."

So, union dues are safe for now but the GOP did a nice job scaring just about every organized labor enthusiast in the four state area.

More in a bit . . .

  3. 5:53 you are an idiot. Unions are to thank for 40 hour week, 8 hour days, overtime pay, vacation, sick leave, and much more. do you think business just gave those voluntarily!

  4. Unions are the reason were all not getting paid 21 cents an hour to make nikes. Unions built and continue to build this country. And unions are the only thing that keeps citys and corporations in check and not fucking over their employees.

  6. Unions has helped the average working American in the past introducing 40 hour work weeks, overtime, etc. BUT!!!!

Lately unions are becoming corrupt entities that shill for politicians and personal gain.

  7. What I don't understand is this--if you don't like unions, why apply at a union shop? They are less than 10%, so go apply at the other 90% and be happy that you're not in a union!
What, union shops pay more and have better beenies? Do you ever ponder why that is? Could it be that the unions fight for better wages, benefits and working conditions? Could that be why? So you want all the goodies for free, off the sweat and blood of the workers who fought for them?

  9. Unions are a Democrat party slush fund. If you think different you are a fool. The late 60's and 70's cast that in stone. It hasn't changed. J. Hoffa
