Kansas City Election Aftermath!!!

Polls are closed in Kansas City . . . Here's just a bit of what we learned . . .

- Voter turnout wasn't just bad, it was abysmal . . . We're talking the lowest interest Kansas City has seen in local Democracy in years.

- Political consultants and school board candidates trolling the GOP guy @ the polls was fun but a Rex Sinquefield, Crosby Kemper and Freedom, Inc. threesome might not be in the works right away. Seriously, that was the biggest election excitement today among insiders . . .

- Pressure is on Mayor Sly to win big . . . He should deliver but even the smallest blink in this rigged water bond vote will be cause for alarm among his "friends" who are ALREADY PLANNING THE NEXT TAX INCREASE.

Results should be easily counted up since only a few dozen people in this town voted.

Consider this AN ELECTION NIGHT OPEN THREAD . . .

  3. I hope they spend it ALL on streetcar construction.

Since that's what you guys decided to "make it about", I feel like they should be able to claim a "mandate" now.

My finger may not be on the pulse of the town, but I still wouldn't recommend sniffing it rn.

  11. Wonder what the last water bond was?

  12. One billion officially just in Water Bond Debt now?

  13. You people in Kansas City are so easy to fuck over.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Um, okay. I knew the water bonds were going to pass. I voted against it to be stubborn.

If you want to be a smart ass, let's put the streetcar to a city wide vote and see if it can get 77%. Hint; it'd be lucky to get 40% and you know it.

  15. stupid fucking rubes.....

  16. My initial reaction is surprise but Kansas City is really just a poster child for why democracies ultimately fail.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What was the yea to nay on the last vote on water bonds?

    ReplyDelete
  18. The city has $450 million of GO debt and $1.1 billion of appropriation backed debt. The appropriation bonds are rated two notches below Kansas City's GO level by Fitch and Moody's due to the non-essential nature of many of the projects, while Standard & Poor's rates them just one notch lower at AA-minus.

Okay this was two years ago where are we now?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think it totals about $5 Billion in the red or something.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sly said our water rates will go down if this passes.

  21. Your an idiot if you believe Sly

Tony - you've missed the best election story of the night. I got elected in MethTown and we are finally going to get something done around here. I will use my super-hotness powers to clean up this place. No more dissing on MethTown or you'll have to deal with me. Just sayin'

Cindy who? Alonzo who? Byron who? Glazer looks kinda cute for a 70's era shag carpet guy. Could work at Graceland as a prop and no one would know.

Bear appears to be a person I would like to work in my administration. Need to tone down the racial overtones - for the good of the children.

Also, my stance on unsolicited bulk mail has always been to support it - good for the bankrupt Postal Service, good for the local independent trash services - overall it's good for Capitalism. Please vote early, vote often

  25. I don't even live in KC, so I can't speak on the issue.

That said, at what point does the whiners on this site, ask themselves, "maybe I am just a friggin loser, or if I am right, I should move"?
