A bit for Kansas City Sunday discussion:
Accordingly, here's a bit of Kansas City knowledge on display . . .
AMTRACK TRAVEL BLOG: KANSAS CITY ‘EMBRACES TRYING OUT BIG IDEAS’, EXPERT SAYS
Money line which features a local transit activist living the good life:
"Last year Matt Staub was brave enough to race an $80,000 Jaguar against our Southwest Chief. It was the ultimate face-off with Matt enjoying the race from the luxury of one of our comfy long-distance roomettes. To say he keeps Kansas City "Team Train" (he even had the support of elected officials!) would be an understatement.
"So we caught up with Matt to find out what people can really expect from his hometown when they visit Kansas City for National Train Day on May 10. As a partner at Graphicmachine and the co-founder of grassroots transit organization Streetcar Neighbors he stands at the intersection of tech and transportation."
################
Kansas City Reax . . .
"Who knew Matt Staub was an expert on anything? He's only been a transit activist and streetcar pusher for 2 years. Amtrak has very low standards when it comes to relying in the opinion of experts."
Other than all of the empty promotion . . . I guess the Q&A with Staub was interesting if only because it reveals his horrible Pee-wee Herman haircut answering more questions than most local neighborhoods have about the toy train streetcar.
TKC, be nice. Looks like he's having fun!
ReplyDeleteCome on Tony, give is some meat tonight.....were primed.
ReplyDeleteTKKKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! I AM UNABLE TO TAKE PRIDE IN THE CITY IN WHICH I LIVE!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN TEARING IT DOWN GETS OLD???
ReplyDeleteBetter figure out the answer to that one quick.
"I am so proud of our city. I love it. We build so many neat and exciting things downtown. The northland sucks though. Also, I hate waldo/brookside now. And there's mostly just black people east of Troost, so it's pretty much a lost cause. We're just building the streetcar there because we need their support to pass the sales tax and qualify for federal money. I won't really ride the Linwood train until it connects to Truman Sports Complex. I really can't stand people like Tony who hate Kansas City, and are always advocating for the city to waste our money on public safety and stuff."
ReplyDeleteTake a bath loser
ReplyDeleteOh, an opportunity to read Tony complain about the streetcar.
ReplyDeleteThere's a friigin news flash.
Maybe the cum guy will stick his johnson into the caboose and cum all over the track?
No wait, maybe the bear with pimples will use it as an opportunity to race bait?
Different day. Same stories.
Staub is my hero, i will do whatever he says!
ReplyDeleteSo, Staub was the guy who called for a boycott of a downtown successful business, against a business owner who had helped make the Crossroads area successful? Same Staub? He hated the business owner because he rightfully opposed the downtown streetcar debacle?
ReplyDeleteGenius!!!
Or rather spoiled brat who has never created anything successful in his life. Another whining wannabe.
People hating on a guy that decided to make a difference in his community. Luckily for him I doubt he wastes his tie reading the peanut gallery. It's clear TKC is a green eyed monster.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to "make a difference in his community" with other peoples' money.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't let Matt Schaub throw my kids out the window if my fuckin house was on fire.
ReplyDeleteHe sucked in Houston and he sucks now.
Jesus, what the fuck is this city cummin to?
Hey 7:17, after your mom bitch slaps you and puts you to bed I bet the bear fucks you mother till she screams. Then you will have to call the bear DADDY. lmfaousmf
ReplyDelete7:17 6:26 etc. If u want to play be original.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your Mom can help? Send her picture.

ReplyDeleteI like the cut of his jib!
Who is this Staub guy?
ReplyDeleteI like the cut of his jib!
Stalker, go to bed.
ReplyDelete7:17 not you jib cutter...
ReplyDeleteI understand I have a stalker. Stalker beware...the Bear does not play nice.
ReplyDeleteBEAR ! That is the best yet! Nice left paw!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you this, it's a great time to work for an engineering firm in KCMO. They're calling all the shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot sellout Sly!
No dog is this fight. But bear, really? Get a fucking life.
ReplyDeleteI think the cum guy put it to the bear's rear end.
ReplyDeleteReally, a bear?
Do anything productive.
10:14 +24..
ReplyDeleteYou have spent much time here the past few days. When is spring break over?
Let's examine the linked article.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the first paragraph:
"Last year Matt Staub was brave enough to race an $80,000 Jaguar against our Southwest Chief. It was the ultimate face-off with Matt enjoying the race from the luxury of one of our comfy long-distance roomettes. To say he keeps Kansas City 'Team Train' (he even had the support of elected officials!) would be an understatement."
Does this paragraph make sense to any reader? Unless "train people" have their own language, this paragraph is vague, lacking in details, and very poorly written. It reads like some schtick from a Chamber of Commerce pamphlet.
Please note that it is merely attributed to "Amtrak" so Mr. Staub perhaps wrote this up himself and submitted it for publication.
Some people choose to do what's right for the whole community, while others attempt to benefit from the subjugation of their neighbors. Kansas City does NOT need a streetcar system. If it did, private companies would be competing to build it. Residents do not need higher taxes, just the opposite is true.
Cum Guy is the sweetheart of this story.
ReplyDelete10:44
ReplyDeleteWell said. If it was a money maker the private money would be swinging hammers and driving spikes. Its a loser! BUT !!! The private money will suck every .01 from the tax payers they can, why not. I don't blame the heavies, the fish rots from the head down!
Is Matt one of Mensa boy's merry hipsters? Does he work for an engineering firm, too? What's the story here?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that Matt Staub was attempting to do something positive for his community, but I think that he's in over his head.
ReplyDeleteHe was so excited about KC having a streetcar, he never considered the implications that gerrymandering a district and disenfranchising KC voters to build a project would have. And despite their best efforts, that district cannot cover the construction cost of the streetcar AND the return on investment is grossly exaggerated, which is why they're hurriedly pushing Phase II.
Boycotting Stretch on Twitter was an amateur and unprofessional move. If the stakes weren't so high at this point, I'm sure he'd offer an apology. He definitely owes him one. Stretch has done more for Crossroads and Kansas City than Matt Staub and Dave Johnson combined will ever do in a lifetime.
Bottom line, Matt Staub bit off more than he could chew, and his vision is outside the scope of what his role actually is.
Ooooh TWITTER BOYCOTTS are such a bold step.
ReplyDeleteTranslation: you kids go ahead and play with your vapid Twitter shit and your roller skates and your REALLY crappy art and us adults will get the heavy lifting done in this city.
"Please Vote Yes On Question One Tomorrow and Maybe Stalder Will Take A Bath."
It's a shame his home state of Nebraska didn't want him. They are welcome to take him back of course.
ReplyDeleteAnytime will do. We'll give them Russ Johnson also as part of the deal. he must miss his home state also.
I'm sure we could take up a collection and get them a one-way ticket to Omaha, where they're sure to be able to peddle their trains.
ReplyDeleteEver notice the band of merry hipsters do not mention Oklahoma City or Omaha, both of which are doing quite well without streetcars?
I'm sure Staub developed his transit expertise during the years he worked at HR Block as a social media blogger.
ReplyDeleteYes, Staub is one of mensa boy's hipster. Staub is pretty much joined at the hip with the other Johnson, Davey boy.
To the idiot bringing up Omaha and OKC...OKC is on the process and Omaha had been trying for years. Nevermind the loser mentality of comparing us to lesser cities. Maybe you could move there?
ReplyDeleteOmaha and OKC voters are both being told "We're the last large city in the country without rail transit!"
ReplyDeleteAlso, all of my other points stan, regardless of my hygiene. I know it's frustrating when all of the made up "facts" you've been fed are eviscerated, but I appreciate your attempts at humor.
Thanks for a reiteration of the Hipster's Manifesto, 1:53. ("If you don't like it, you can always move.") Also I'm not sure either of those cities would appreciate being called "lesser" by a loser.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why no grown-up has pointed out to the merry hipsters that there is no streetcar in Kansas City, "and if you don't like it you can always move."
ReplyDeletePerfect. Another uninformed opponent gets blown up for bringing up OKC and Omaha and all u guys can do make up more stuff about the two towns or whine about "move" comments. There are credible reasons not to support streetcar...I just don't understand why so many of you ignore those reasons and make stuff up.
ReplyDeleteIt may have something to do with money, 3:43. It would be interesting to know how many of Mensa boy's band of merry hipsters work for contractors who stand to gain from the project. And Mensa boy's term ends next year. Who knows what his post-council plans are?
