SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY REPUBLICANS GREATLY EXAGGERATE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF GOP CONVENTION 2016!!!

It seems that hype and big promises regarding eco-devo efforts cross party lines in American politics and Kansas City event planning.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS FACT CHECK OF THE ALLEGED ECONOMIC IMPACT PROMISED BY REPUBLICANS FOR THE GOP CONVENTION 2016!!!

Show-Me Blog: Kansas City Republicans’ Absurd Claims

Here's the money line . . .

"The idea that having the convention here amounts to a net gain of $250 million is absurd, and it casts a light on how calculating the economic impact of other items is the economic equivalent of alchemy."

The post goes on to explain that, as always, Kansas City politicos are playing games with the numbers.

Even worse . . .

KANSAS CITY REPUBLICANS ARE OUT OF THEIR MIND IF THEY THINK THE GOP CONVENTION WILL BRING IN ANYTHING CLOSE TO HALF THE REVENUE OF THE SUPER BOWL!!!

The recent Kansas City All-Star game didn't really live up to expectations and very much like the most political posturing: GOP promises of a convention bump for Kansas City are mostly just a bait and switch effort in hopes for local government freebies.

  1. I have nothing but contempt for Rex Stinkfield, who trying to turn Missouri into Communist China, but he and his cronies are not wrong about this one.

  2. Agree, its the CVA and City Hall who trump up these numbers and last I checked, they were mostly Democrats. Who do you trust?

  3. This is just like an All Star Game, SuperBowl, or any of the other bit time events.
They're all going to "put the city on the international map", when in fact hardly any of the tv coverage shows anything but the stadium or inside of a convention hall. No one knows or cares where the event is taking place.
Hundreds of millions of dollars come to town and are spent on television ads and national hotel and restaurant chains, with peanuts trickling down into the local economy.
And the local celebrities and politicos all get to make believe anyone actually takes them seriously or that they're even a part of what's going on.
Oh, and don't forget the local taxpayers picking up big time police overtime and public works costs. Which is why Sly and the gang won't release those cost estimates to the public or media.
Sly's KCMO has become an endless line of hype and baloney and this is just more of the same on steroids.

  4. I think that any reasonable person would agree that a political convention, or either party, is a GOOD thing for the Kansas City region.

Although the amount can be argued by all of the political hacks, people will be coming here and spending money....which is a positive for the local economy.

  5. When KC gives away the store to every group that wants to rent a hotel room. There's something wrong with that and it's not something that's sustainable.

  6. Where da bear? grabs the award and runs!

  7. KC always falls for this same scam. If it's wrong for Democrats, it's wrong for Republicans too.

  8. Now of course the hysterical thing here is that Patsy just Says It's Wrong And That's That without backing up his claim at all.

A page torn from the Tony Botello Non-School of Non-Journalism.

Say hi to your wife for me, Patsy. Hey you know the difference between Patsy's wife, and eggs? Eggs get laid once in a while.

  9. So you're standing up for Republicans by doing a little online bullying? That sounds weird and kinda like a move from Russ Johnson.

  11. Polar bear troll. Why are you spending all day on this site telling people to stop reading? Why don't you go back to your shitty job or try moving some furniture?

  12. Economic impact is just raw dollars spent. Every car wreck, every tornado, every broken window has a positive impact on someone. Doesn't mean its positive for the city. Its not like 250 mil is just dropped on us. Much of that 250 mil leaves the city in the form of goods consumed or in the form of profits for out of town companies.

  21. Kansas City doesn't stand a chance in Hell of getting the GOP convention. Nobody wants to see wild, stupid, rabid niggers, fucking up the place even further for national coverage. Nope, ain't gonna happen.
