KC Biz Journal and just because I wanted to note a bit of good news: "In an effort to raise money for CASA of Kansas City and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, Darius Rucker will perform at the fourth annual UMB Big Bash concert at the Uptown Theater on June 19."

Who the hell is Hootie? A restaurant chain?
ReplyDeleteNo the blowfish guy. I thought they faded away into the dustbin of history but I guess a few are still around.
ReplyDeleteNo, he's a country star musician now.. he is a white man trapped in a niggas costume. He cool bro..
ReplyDeleteThe corporate circuit is where a lot of the bands from the past go and play. They make a pretty good living at it, especially middle-of-the-road bands like Hootie.
ReplyDeletePop music is lame anyway. UMB deserves Hootie.
ReplyDeleteIf music on the radio in the early 1990s all sounded the same, that’s because it was All Hootie & The Blowfish, All The Time. The band’s bland music had no real edge and just enough melody to have comfortably become background noise, except then the booming baritone voice of Darius Rucker came on and bore into your skull like a drill. Twenty years later and chances are that you can still hear Rucker rattling around there in your brain.
