A GROUNDBREAKING RACIAL DISCRIMINATION CASE AGAINST THE KCFD STARTS TOMORROW!!!
An African-American dude is bravely taking the Dept. to task.
You haven't heard much about it in the media because the Fire Department controls a great deal of the politics in this town.
Just look at the mostly white-guy numbers of the Fire Department and then realize that this blog has long-contended that there's MUCH-NEEDED room for improvement when it comes to encouraging racial diversity and gender equality within the KCFD. It's despicable and illegal that the KCFD is the last remaining department that has not had to meet with federally mandated hiring guidelines and ADA accessibility regs as well.
We'll see how this one develops and in fairness we need to note that KCFD is fighting the good fight in the Northland right now . . . However, the longstanding legacy of discrimination within the KCFD could come to end this week at a cost to City Hall who might finally rethink this Dept's near self-rule.

ReplyDeleteWhy does America continue to fall on the global scope of industry? Because political correctness has taken the place of qualifications and production. Yes, there are plenty of minorities worthy of the same employment as others, but let the resume decide that. We are crippling our own companies by placing these quotas. A company has the right to hire who they want. If they fail to produce because of racial prejudice, that's their consequence. Forcing them to focus on race and gender first, hurts the end product.

I have no doubt that there is a VAST disparity in your "diversity" when it comes to the American Indian, the Asian, the middle easterners... you should just call it exactly what it is and quit pulling other minorities into your argument and just say we somehow need more blacks and hispanics, KC is the greatest racist town I know of and its not the whites here that are making it this way.. the "Diverse" class enjoys pissing on other peoples heads and saying "look!! its raining!" so TK Fuck you and your diversity
ReplyDeleteWell how about a age discrimination law suit? Turns out you have to be less than 30 or 30 when you get hired. Now while it has everything to do with their pension investment time period while on the job it has even more to do with the power of a union and how discrimination is far from cut and dried, after all if you can physically do the job you should be able to get the job! There are tons of old FAT fuckers on the fire dept, they might have started when they were young and fit, but are virtually worthless now. Again Politics shape the laws in their favor and what benefits them.
ReplyDeleteI have no interest in working for the thug mob like KCFD and its Hoffa style union, but I can guarantee you there are able bodies who actually have morals who are over 30 that want to work there (not sure why but they do.) and they should be able to have that opportunity and not turned away by age. KCK I dont think has a age requirement, as well as several other fire departments across the country because they understand that age discrimination is illegal, but in KC they get by with it.

ReplyDeleteIn October 2013 three males were fired from the Jackson County Assessors Office for spending their entire days masturbating to internet porn on work hours. Not a word is said. No supervisor noticed their behavior. They just kept signing the whack-off's time sheets. Checks were cashed. The only reason they were found out is that one of the three jack-offs went into an hormonal rage and pulled a fire arm on another of the three jack-offs during work hours. Finally someone walks into one of the offices they find the furnature, walls and computer equipment covered in ejaculate ranging from "oozy" to sticky to crusty. No one said a word!

ReplyDeleteThey have always been out of control! but they sell propaganda to the taxpayers that claim they are "heroes" If you look back in history when they went on strike, they were not heroes, they left the citizens hanging! they went on strike for "self serving" reasons, nothing has changed since then! they still look out for number one, which isn't you! (well unless you are a KCFD firefighter) and while their union and the "city" cooks the books on response times you better hope you live close to a service that actually takes your life seriously in a medical emergency or a fire.

ReplyDeleteAs a Kansas city firefighter for more than 10 years I will say this. As in any entity in any public service position we have challenges, we are dictated by government and our union, yet we have a job that we are trying to support our family by showing up everyday to our shift.
ReplyDeleteI have never agreed with everything while being employed as a KCFD firefighter that our union and our service tells you is fact, because most of what they tell you is propaganda, but I keep my mouth shut and as long as I do my bills will be paid. I know our response times are far from perfect, and I hope the department is working hard to improve a system where things will get better, I am sorry for those that have died because we have not perfected that yet, but understand we are working on it, so please dont hate all FF's we have a job just like you do, ours can be at times more challenging but we do our best so stop hating us on this blog....GO ELLEN!
