Topics Include:

- Shawnee Apple 1-to-1 Conversion

- GOP Convention Talk

Garrett Haake was a nice addition and it's always fun to see Jack Cashill in action . . . Pretty informative Kansas City discussion that we've (clearly) contributed to as well.

  1. I am hearing that Skippy Sanders has hired Mary O to help him talk. At least to inch toward talking in such a way that he does not sound like a used car salesman trying to close a finance deal on a wreck.

    It is not working.

  2. I watched the whole program and didn't hear anything about a fat, basement dwelling Mexican. Unless it was that Nick Haynes fart off camera.

  3. If Skippy hired Mary O. he really is stupid. She can't even talk herself, let alone help someone else.

  4. White people. Cashills totally useless. He should go pick up some hours at mcdonalds.

  5. I hope they have someone there who can do CPR because Helling looks like he would go code blue any minute.

  6. Garrett Hake was great. KCPT needs to put more vibrant, smart, articulate people like him on WIR and Ruckus. I hope they don't quit having Stacey Cameron on.

  7. 12:37, Thank you! I've been saying Helling looks half dead for two years.

  8. The wee Welshman jumps right in with Shawnee Mission Apples:
GHaake gives the deets on where the $20 million comes from (capital outlays)for this education arms race. DHelling comments on KS legislature education spending. BShelly supports the kids getting early access to computer tech. JCashill discounts the redundancy of even more tech. Love him or hate him, Helling always has the comprehensive details you won't hear from others.

Big Business Calls KCI An Old Shoe!
BShelly notes the anti-elite backlash occurring, but then says the business leaders have a very valid point. JCashill says once they're here, everyone loves the airport, and mentions the failures at Cincinnati and Dayton. The need is not there. DHelling says voters will have to vote on the issue after a very long deep conversation. Speak to the people! GHaake scores points when saying prospective business owners won't decide on KC expansion depending on whether there's a Quiznos sandwich shop at the airport! Helling says most voters don't fly! Shelly makes another push for a new terminal.

    Cathy Nugent & GOP Convention
Cashill says it seems someone is attempting to sabotage Denver's effort. Democratic Mayor cutting loose a Republican consultant, speaks to KC's poor effort. Haake says news other than "how great KC is" ends up hurting KC's effort. Helling reports KC was ranked in the middle of the contenders list by the WashPo. KC's challenge is to prove competency in hotel and transportation issues. Haake and Helling share some interesting stats. Shelly stakes KC's claim to "home-spun" nature.

    KCPS Meeting Draws 500 People
Shelly was there, and heard the same statements years ago. Nick asks if nothing will happen. Haake compares the plan to what happened in NewOrleans following Katrina. Cashill says KC "will always have" a below average school system. Shelly suggests culling the herd of the weak, and letting the strong continue. Helling suspiciously remains silent.

    KS Banning Gay Marriage Bill
Helling cites US Supreme Court decisions, and says this is a political battle versus policy. Cashill recounts 30 years ago having his "gay wedding" article rejected as being too positive. Shelly recalls religion being used to support bigotry, and hopes KS butts out. Haake speaks to the use of wedge issues for political purposes. Cashill zings Obama's flip-flopping. Helling says a big scary can of worms has been opened by "groups of people."

    Mayor Sly Unopposed?
Shelly says Sly is a popular guy. Cashill points at Sly's potential Achille's Heel of a "NO NEW AIRPORT" challenger. Haake asks who has the name recognition and money? Consensus is that Sly wins another term.

....and another week comes to a close with KC's finest host.

  9. The only thing more ridiculous than Cashill's opinions, is his attempt to hide his bald head with a horrible comb over.

  12. The extent of the combover shows the level of desperation of the man.

A slight combover = man in early denial. Hasn't decided to go with a crewcut.

A combover that starts just above the opposite ear = delusional and stuck in a multi-year rut! This style is prevalent with political types on the SUN morning news shows.
