Historic Kansas City Kemper Arena?!?!

A losing GOP convention and many horrible soccer games could save the legacy of yet another old-school Kansas City eco-devo project that didn't work:

Fox4: Plans to demolish Kemper may be canceled if it’s designated as historical

Deets:

"If Kemper were to be listed on the national register, it could not be demolished to make way for a 5,000 seat equestrian center that American Royal boosters want to build.

American Royal President Bob Petersen says he’s surprised the arena is under consideration for historic designation. He says Kemper sits dark for much of the year, with only a handful of events scheduled. The arena needs more than $20-million in deferred maintenance . . ."

Of course the destination isn't really historic but the alternative to saving the place is Kansas City wasting many more millions as tribute to one of the 1% families that runs this town. In that sense, history is kind of repeating itself . . .

It's just another shitty piece of Kansas City architecture, it won't be missed!

  3. It's historical just for the awesome concerts it had!

  5. Implode Kemper!! or if it rains enough it will just cave in if I remember correctly.
7:54 is right though it would look cool with vines all over it.

  6. I think Kansas City should be demolished, but it has been deemed as historical, but if kc was demolished Kemper should remain, a ton of good memories comes out of Kemper far many more than the city that facility resides in that wants to destroy it!

  7. They need to just bull doze that money sucking piece of shit. Why keep it around just so we have to keep sinking more and more money in to it?

That's one of the things wrong with this city. Always wanting to hold on to shit like this. Kemper isn't historical. It's outdated, expensive, doesn't generate nearly enough money to benefit the city. Why keep it? Just so it can sit down in the bottoms and host a handful of events a year while sucking up MILLIONS of tax dollars that can be used for more important things?

Makes no sense. Bulldoze it. End of story.

  8. Before they bulldoze it Kay Barnes should have to admit she lied about keeping it during the Sprint Arena vote.

  9. Put a decent roof on it and waaaaaalaaa....instide is fine. Concrete and seats are good. A new roof should not cost 5 million dollars. Rent it out to the niggers on the weekend to have flea markets and sell the shit they steal during the week. Makes no sense to tear down a building that paid for. It is paid for, isn't it ? Fix the roof and let the Monster Trucks roar.
