Feds Now Watching Spanish Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar And Tragic City Hall Junket

Biz Journal reports fed scrutiny on the toy train streetcar and the money for the trip coming from KCMO not D.C.: FTA will monitor KC’s streetcar order - "The FTA requires the final assembly of all federally funded transit vehicle systems to be done in the U.S. It also requires that 60 percent of the total value of the streetcar vehicle's components be manufactured domestically. An FTA spokeswoman said that such trips abroad are not federally prohibited but that federal money spent on trips will not be reimbursed."

  1. Let them all go to Spain at once so Federal Surveillance is much easier.

  2. So does this mean the trip will be called off? Other than the Star and the Biz Journal, no other media outlet seems interested. Who is following up on this? How about the original tipster?

  3. I doubt it. It just means you will pay for it.

  5. If KCMO has enough money for junkets, we need to pull the plug on the e-tax.

  12. This post is about the Spanish Junket ...

The federal government won't pay for it because they don't feel its necessary, which means the Kansas City taxpayers will pay for it.

  13. no WV taxpayers going to pay for it

They are Rethuglicans. I can tell by the 'talk radio' rhetoric. As Tony once said, I'm the most liberal commenter here, & they think that if they bully me enough, they can run me off, & that will be some kind of victory for them. Silly people, I'll still vote & only working class racists & rich white men will vote Rethuglican this time. I look forward to Hillary's Presidency. Its time we had a woman! Men suck so much.

I believe there are still companies in the U.S. capable of building a streetcar.

  18. I'm a fairly progressive person but Byron is infuriating. He is a welfare cheat. He is a disgrace to the disabled community he claims to be a part of. His knowledge is so limited it's embarrassing. It's great he's from WV so we don't have to claim his idiocy.
For someone like Byron to refuse to work and help do the right thing by supporting himself because he (claims) to be legally blind is revolting. There are so many people who are wheelchair bound, totally blind, or dealing with multiple disabilities who are gainfully employed and contributing to society. Many do volunteer work. Byron sits home, does nothing to help himself, smokes weed, and let's the government (our tax dollars) pick up his tab.
And he wonders why TKC and the readers laugh at and are disgusted by him.
