TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT INSIDER: MANY TKC COMMENTERS MISINFORMED!!! THERE IS NO KCFD/KCPD RIVALRY!!!
This afternoon we had a conversation with police insiders regarding the blog that straightened out a few things for us . . .
Here is the most important fact that KCPD insiders relayed to us . . .
A KCPD Insider Said: "A lot of the comments are clearly trying to stir-up and exploit a situation that is not beneficial to either department or Kansas City. The employer in a shooting incident never comes into play when our department makes decisions. Some of your commenters need to know: What they're saying is unfairly creating a controversy where there is none and both departments and families involved are doing their best to heal from an unfortunate situation that is currently under investigation."
Another quote that's not for attribution but important nonetheless:
The Insider Continued: "We haven't mentioned the fire department at all because, in the end, this is a single shooting incident that has nothing to do with the the Fire Department Or the Police Department or any imagined rivalry."
That is the message from a KCPD Insiders that offers a lot more perspective than the "We Are Family" sentiments.
Basically . . . Police seem to be investigating this officer-involved shooting like any other.
In the aftermath . . . There seems to be very little fallout from confrontation between firefighters and police @ Truman immediately following the shooting incident. TKC learned of confirmation of the incident but we are also advised that since police were already on scene . . . There isn't going to be any documentation of the dust-up that has resonated in both departments.
From the Firefighter side . . . On record they are following the lead of KCFD Chief Berardi in mourning the loss and focusing on aiding the devastation of the family involved.
A Kansas City Insider close to the Firefighter family offered an exceptionally important insight . . .
"I'm a supporter of the police, always will be . . . But it's important not to ignore that Kansas City is sitting on a powder-keg after this shooting. Maybe the leaders on both of departments need to stay out of it and there should be some kind of special investigation. I haven't heard anything from Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker - She made news just last week for prosecuting a police officer. It's also strange the Mayor is silent on the topic of two city employees in a deadly confrontation. Right now the people we look to in elected positions are being silent and that's the wrong strategy when leadership is desperately needed."
UPDATE: Nearly 48 hours after the fact here is the EVENING STATEMENT from Mayor Sly mostly hidden in a KCTV5 story:
Mayor Sly James said Monday that city officials are not jumping to conclusions and called it a tragic situation.
"We have two of our first responders involved in life-threatening situations that didn't turn out well," James said. "So at this point what we are trying to do is be respectful of the feelings of everyone involved and to get to the bottom of the facts."
James vowed "to support those who needed to be supported in any way and to do so without trying to find a way to blame ... one side or another."
Developing . . .
Tony, I think maybe your overlooking the fact that the Mayor is also doing the right thing by letting the investigation take its logical course.
ReplyDeleteSounds like some back tracking to cover your ass. Did KCPD call up and threaten an azz whooping?
ReplyDeleteFUCK THE POLICE
ReplyDeleteNotice that FD didn't back up this statement. Until they do a joint press conference together, this is just a PR tactic.
ReplyDeletehooray!!! more nameless, faceless, totally unverifiable AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS!!! statements accepted as blind fact!!!
ReplyDeleteBelieve this BS at your own peril.
Sly DID make a statement ..just saw him on channel 5..wtf!?!?
ReplyDeleteComment is not a statement.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice the police have the right attitude. Most KCFD probably have the right attitude as well. It's too bad the family of the firefighter is talking lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor did make a statement, its just TKC didnt care to see it because he is to busy creating bullshit stories to pit the fire dept against the police dept.
ReplyDeleteJean will not investigate, she is too busy working on the daisy case to get the woman vote.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm. I thought Tony was the one who first commented on the rivalry he now says doesn't exist.......
ReplyDeleteany link to the statement, tkc will link it if McGurk bitches enough.
ReplyDeleteTony has been callling on the mayor to say something since yesterday. just checked the mayor's twitter and nadda!
Why don't people care when police shoot other people?
ReplyDeleteBecause whether you like it or not some people are shit heads and need to be shot. Pussy
DeleteThe Mayor is being quiet because he is getting answers
ReplyDeleteAs if anyone takes internet comments seriously? Comments are like a sport, a competition to see who can out do each other.
ReplyDeleteLOL
@6:50 because it is other people...
ReplyDeleteKCPD and KCFD rivals?
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO!! Nice try there though to stir things up.
Tonys KC-investigative
ReplyDelete(cc) Tony utilizes his anemic correspondence school journalism skills to mask an editorial and a half assed correction as an "insider" info piece; ZZZZzzzzz guy is officially diagnosed with narcolepsy.
Zzzzzz
ReplyDeleteWe're only in it for the ego trip.
ReplyDeletetkc......snooze
ReplyDeleteKansas City Mayor Sly James had no comment on the incident, except to say that he was saddened and “his thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted,” said James spokeswoman Joni Wickham.
ReplyDeleteHello bitches, we wanted to draw your attention to the update about 40 minutes ago . . . You guys are slipping, you need to be reloading this page all day.
DeleteHere it is one more time:
Mayor Sly James said Monday that city officials are not jumping to conclusions and called it a tragic situation.
"We have two of our first responders involved in life-threatening situations that didn't turn out well," James said. "So at this point what we are trying to do is be respectful of the feelings of everyone involved and to get to the bottom of the facts."
James vowed "to support those who needed to be supported in any way and to do so without trying to find a way to blame ... one side or another."
Playing both sides much?
DeleteSpineless statement
DeletePuppeteer
DeleteSo I guess we should blame the police now for needing to protect themselves when people go berserk on them?
ReplyDeleteThis city is Fucked Up
Bitches?
ReplyDeleteBEGIN!
ReplyDeleteWho's we?
ReplyDeleteLike the lame stream media isn't twisting and screwing up the facts on this?
ReplyDeleteThere are no facts. Yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat else do you need to know? So a drunk guy beats a cabbie, runs from a cop, then beats a cop nearly to death, only to be killed by the cop defending himself from being killed? What other facts am I missing? Please enlighten us all. And the family can shove the lawsuit bullshit up their crooked ass. The PD will never pay that one out and no judge or jury will side with the family. What other facts are there?
DeleteSo a firefighter mouthed off when he was drunk and beat the crap out of a cop so badly and he got shot. I don't give a shit if he was at a wedding reception or a gay pride parade. You start assaulting a cop and beat him almost to death and who knows what else was going on.....you are gonna get it.
ReplyDeleteThese cops are always being attacked and then get in trouble for defending themselves.
I can't stand drunk dudes that think they are billy bad ass once they get hammered. That sounds exactly like what happened here. Just stop drinking if you are that person.
ReplyDeletethis could have been been possibly avoided if the dumb fucks watching would of stepped in and helped. Instead we know of one dumb ass that rather filmed with his phone. How about holding those dip shits responsible. I have read a lot of stupid comments and their are so many who just don't get it and never will. Hell, I bet the some of you would watch the video and still say something stupid. "Oh, he could of shot him in the leg." The cop is a great cop, did what was right, and it is unfortunate that the kid lost his life over a $6.00 cab fair. You morons need to wake up and smell the coffee. This shit is real out there and because of you morons, who can't handle your liquor and think you are bad ass, this type of incident will probably happen again.
ReplyDeleteI'll drink to that
ReplyDeleteIt will all be settled when the paranormal TV show crew shows up in KC.
ReplyDeleteYou girls still arguing about this crap? Jeeeeesus Get a job.
ReplyDeleteJudgement before facts. Yeeeeeeep, TKC blog.
ReplyDeleteNews before spin. TKC calls u bitches.
Deleteshut up tony
DeleteIs sly going to dress up in a Santa costume and let citizens sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas?
ReplyDeleteSanta, I want a toy train!
After Sly's performance with regard to the tragic explosion on the Plaza, he may want to keep his fat mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteWe'll never get to the bottom of the facts here. Just the bottom like usual.
ReplyDeleteThe Insider Continued: "We haven't mentioned the fire department at all because, in the end, this is a single shooting incident that has nothing to do with the the Fire Department Or the Police Department or any imagined rivalry."
ReplyDeleteWITH THAT SAID: The FF was not in uniform and the police officer was, and the behavior by the punk that got shot was just as any thug the police department encounters on any given day, and if the cop knew he was a FF ( which he may have because FF seem to think that because of where they are employed the rules are different for them than the rest of the public because they are part of a union that can usually get them out of any trouble they get into. A cop shot a thug, it just so happened it was a off duty fire fighter. The police have a job to do and they did it, the fact it was a drunk out of control FF that forgot that being a role model while in public is part of the job, just proves that the propaganda the fire dept sells the public is all BS for the most part.
I have lived here my whole life, and the Kansas City Fire Department has always been a shady city entity.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that "one of their own" was shot because he was endangering a police officers life while that officer was doing his job, well he got what was coming to him hands down and unfortunately it cost him his life.
It doesn't matter if you are a DR or a lawyer, or a clerk at a grocery store, if you assault a police officer you have crossed the line and if you bash in a cops head you will get shot, and if that shot kills you well that is on your dumb ass.
FUCK THE FIRE DEPT
ReplyDeleteSeems like the cop took a beating before he finally pulled out his gun.
ReplyDeleteAnd some want to blame the cop???
Kyle James is probably thanking them both for taking the heat off of him.
ReplyDeleteI wish the damn mob would take over that freaking town and straighten it out again. I don't give a shit how many toy trains an gimmicks get bought they will not make people forget what a freaking nightmare Kansas City has become. What a shit hole.
ReplyDeleteFucking Funhouser walked on water compared to the current heard of jackmice.
The sad part is that it wont be but a few days before the next cluster-fuck comes along and the spin doctors will go into high gear blowing smoke up everyone's ass.
9:32 NAILS it.
ReplyDelete@9:32 Yep! If KCPD did not have such a culture of street violence I suppose a lot of folks would be a little more anxious to accept the prevailing story. Perhaps someday the department will get a real chief of police and some leader ship and it will get cleaned up. I sure as hell would not want to see a poll right now on how many folk support KCPD. That department as got to be cleaned out and up.
ReplyDeleteYou fools Superdave nails it right on the head and has said the only fucking thing that makes any sense. You bitches I guess need to go read it again. Unlike chuck he used simple common words any KCPS graduate would understand.
ReplyDeleteThe KC Star's story states this from the PD;
ReplyDelete"Hubbard was working in uniform in an off-duty capacity for a downtown business. The statement did not describe any change regarding his administrative status with the department."
The uniformed off-duty capacity for the hotel is just like when you see a KCPD officer standing at the royals games, chiefs games, power and light district, malls, gas stations, etc. The business hires them for extra security as a police presence on the property to deal with any criminal incidents that may occur. The department and many others around the country offer this service so that "on-duty" resources are not required to deal with events and businesses like the royals or power and light. The term "off-duty" is termed from "off-duty employment" and not from just being off the clock.
Give him a medal for bravery in the line of off-duty.
ReplyDeleteTechnically we are always on duty.
DeleteThank God the Firefighter wasn't black!!
ReplyDeleteIt's rough being white. Please forgive me that I don't acknowledge your struggle.
DeleteHey dipshit - In today's society, the White, non-veteran male is the single most discriminated against individual in the workplace, ESPECIALLY in government jobs. FACT, not opinion. So go fuck yourself with your "the door only swings one way" reverse-racism bullshit mentality. It's not 1860, nor 1960's Montgomery Alabama anymore, either.
DeleteIt's rough being white. Please forgive me that I don't acknowledge your struggle.
DeleteIt's interesting and commendable that KCPD want the brotherhood between KCPD and KCFD stressed and maintained.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it can't be ignored that the Bruno family is talking lawsuit one day after the shooting of their son. It also can't be ignored that callers to radio shows, especially a few claiming to be firefighters, claim this incident will cause problems between Italian-Americans and cops.
Sounds as though Berardi and Cambiano had better get the troops in line.
When your son or wife gets shot or killed see how you react. Perfectly understandable that folks would flare up over the death of a member of their family. Doesn't matter whether the kid was good or bad it was the families loss. Let's stop looking for targets and let everyone get past this without the ignorance that loves to grab onto controversy.
ReplyDeleteHey Stupid fuck! Why don't you shut your fucking ignorant pie hole and accept that the whole fucking world doesn't buy into your Neanderthal thinking ass hole.
ReplyDeleteI thought cops were supposed to be tough?! Sounds like to me that firemen are tougher and cops need to use weapons to win a fight.
ReplyDeleteYou are ignorant.
Delete2:29 As a CCW holder, I would have put 5 bullets in that dumb ass FF's chest, and that would have been before he bashed in my head and I am not a cop, with that said the whole idea behind CCW is to be protected from people who dont respect law and order, and people have no regard to others in the public. The dead guy may have been a FF but that really doesn't matter in reality, he acted like a thug because he was a thug, and thugs get shot, so whats your point?
ReplyDeleteBy now, that FF's new wife is probably getting fucked by a buddy (aka FF) of his who is already married. FF's do shit like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by "white"? Are you speaking of racism, because if you are I wont forgive you because you are as ignorant as a FF could ever be, but you are and if you ever get off the TIT of your union, and your attitude of entitlement, well then you would be able to acknowledge how people could struggle. I am assuming your GED is leaving you now more than confused.
ReplyDeleteWe're not misinformed. We're a bunch of douche bags that value a good one liner over being technically correct on every tiny little point.
ReplyDeleteI hate white people.
