TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! STRETCH EXPLAINS WHY HE DROPPED OUT OF THE PENDING KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR LAWSUIT!!!
Mainstream media doesn't want Kansas City to know that the lawsuit against the Downtown Toy Train streetcar is still pending. The Missouri Supreme Court is still considering aspects of the case. In the end, the funding mechanism and cost overtures now burdening the General Fund reveal that Mayor and Council are kind of making up the rules as they go along.
Nevertheless . . .
THIS MORNING KANSAS CITY ARTIST AND RESTAURANTEUR STRETCH EXPLAINS HIS RECENT DECISION TO DROP OUT OF THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR LAWSUIT ALONG WITH HIS SURPRISING HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF THE TDD!!!
Check STRETCH in his own words and you'll find that he's a practical and insightful guy . . . Also rather patient to put up with City Hall cramping his biz . . .
Check it:
STRETCH says: "I'll tell ya... It sucks ... But what we tried to do was beaten down and not worth my fight any longer. They will continue to work around what makes sense and tweak the laws to fit their need. We will never win at that . . .
"My decision (to leave the lawsuit) had nothing to do with the Grinders/STRETCH haters or supposed boycotts. Grinders employs 60+ great peeps - To try and boycott or do damage (to our business) is really ridiculous to the community and the livelihood of so many individuals unaffiliated with any particular opinion about the streetcar. (The talk of boycott was nothing more than) selfish thoughts from closed-minded people.
"So as it stands - It's hard to embrace this Toy Train fiasco but now that it has landed, we must try and make it work. Dare I say it: If only 100 people a day ride this train at least make them pay $1.00. That's $36,500.00 we don't have to pay.
"I am and always have been a great supporter of Kansas City and the developmental growth of the city, just not in the ways they're going about it right now."

Better title: STRETCH says Kansas City is going to have to get aboard the toy train whether we like it or not.
ReplyDeleteThis is just what Kansas City does to people, for their OWN wants and needs they would sacrifice the jobs of other people, I crossed Phillip Yelder at one time and he and his staff went on a campaign of putting me out of business, I was given the original letters he wrote on the City's letterhead making accusations he knew was not true, his staff went to my clients and told them they would be better off not being involved with our business and his office does after all hold the keys of whether or not you will do business in KC, a few companies went out of business and a few left after they started to feel the pressure, all in all this is a horrible, racist, corrupt organization of people rather than a city government that have forgotten they are suppose to work in the PEOPLES best interest because they pay you to do so.
ReplyDeleteThe people who boycott Grinders have functional taste buds.
ReplyDeleteInteresting change coming from Stretch the former TIF commissioner.
Why can't he just admit that he was running out of money litigating a case he couldn't possibly win?
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't paying for the lawsuit, a mystery third party is.
ReplyDeletei'm surprised he can operate a business with that kind of financial wizardry. $36,500? yeah, b/c THAT will cover the building costs and operating costs.
ReplyDelete@9:03, $36k will be SOME money to help mitigate the costs. They actually need to charge closer to $10 to start coming close to covering the costs.
ReplyDeleteCouncilman Johnson said the early returns indicate that Kansas Citians do not want “jogs” off a main line and would prefer a straight-line system.
ReplyDeleteHe also said many have said they want the streetcar, but they won’t be taking it to work, which is in line with the city’s expectations. Besides, economic development potential, not ridership, will be the most important criteria in judging expansion lines, he said.
“The stated goal of this project is economic development. That’s the dominant goal,” Johnson said. “The dominant goal is not to have a lot of people ride it. The dominant goal is to develop the city.”
“The dominant goal is not to have a lot of people ride it"
ReplyDeleteUh okay whatever it takes I guess.

Proof that suing the government to protect your money and sanity is almost impossible. Third party help or not. Gov employee's are paid big bucks to screw anyone who tries. Speaking from experience, the goal is to keep us silent and pay up. Choo choo Sly.
ReplyDeleteCINCINNATI Dec 3, 2013 -- After eight hours of meetings and listening to more than 60 residents speak, Cincinnati City Council took the first step Monday to suspend work on the streetcar project.
ReplyDeleteWow may have to move there they actually listen to their citizens instead of stomping on them with jack boots.
But if they want to retain college graduates and bring new business to town they need a toy train!
ReplyDeleteLMAO!
ReplyDeleteJudge: Detroit Eligible for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy
ReplyDeleteWell we always have this to fall back on in case thing don't end well with the electric tin cans.
Maybe we can try selling everyone's information and habits who rides the toy trains to advertisers?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should just shut up, lube up your taxpaying ass, and stop your whining.
ReplyDeleteThe squishy place is the illusion that pervasive racketeering is an okay replacement for an economy. The essence of racketeering is the use of dishonest schemes to get money, often (but not always) employing coercion to make it work. Some rackets can function on the sheer cluelessness of the victim(s).
ReplyDeleteThere is no rest for the wicked. Busy busy busy push push push!
ReplyDeleteKCI-Public testimony was just getting underway and only four or five people had made their comments when the order came to evacuate City Hall.
ReplyDeleteHmmm
Just what the fuck is a "toy" train??
ReplyDeleteLol, yes, Russ Johnson's quote that dmits this is an economic development project, not a transit improvement, yet they used a TDD (TRANSPORTATION Development District) to create the finding for it.
ReplyDeleteWe need TDD reform yesterday. Seriously, contact your state rep and try to get ANYONE to sponsor this in the next Missouri Legislative session.
he backed out because he is a pussy.
ReplyDeleteDoes STRETCH stick his finger in a light socket to get his hair like that?
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line here, is that anything created at Grinders, is totally unsafe to eat! It's garbage, put together by cretins. No, Grinders is NOT a place you should even consider eating...
ReplyDeleteStretch, you one ugly mother fucker... now STFU and stick a smelly Grinder up your ass.
