SHOCK!!! MORE PUSHBACK: CITY HALL REALLY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND RED LIGHT CAMERA LAWS!!! MISSOURI COURT SHAMES KANSAS CITY WITH LATEST RULING!!!

Right now City Hall is fumbling around like a chicken with its head cut off while trying to save Kansas City red lights before the Thanksgiving break.
Thankfully . . . Missouri politicos are putting a stop to the cynical maneuvering . . .
Check it:
KSHB: Kansas City's red light camera citations aren't coming back anytime soon
The money quote:
"The Western District Missouri Court of Appeals issued a ruling Tuesday that questions the constitutionality of Kansas City’s red light camera law. The court said it believes the ordinance conflicts with state law because it does not assess points against the driver’s record. It also questioned whether Kansas City’s red light camera law is just a “revenue raising” scheme."
Accordingly . . .
REMEMBER THAT EVEN MISSOURI COURTS ARE CALLING OUT KANSAS CITY RED LIGHT CAMERAS AS NOTHING MORE THAN A CASH SCHEME!!!
More . . .
SO LET'S STOP LYING ABOUT THE PUBLIC SAFETY ANGLE AND ADMIT THE REAL MOTIVATION OF CITY COUNCIL DUDES PUSHING THE TECHNOLOGY!!!
Also, this would be a great time for Council Dudes Scott Taylor (a lawyer) and John Sharp to give up their efforts to save Kansas City red light cameras and work on something more productive.
It's about forcing people to stop at red lights. Instead of barreling through an intersection and hitting bike riders, pedestrians, and colliding with other cars who have the right of way.
ReplyDeleteWhat are people afraid of. The camera's might record them snorting meth, smoking a blunt, chugging down a couple of Pabsts?
ReplyDeleteThe cameras are illegal.
ReplyDeleteStop pushing them to pay consultants. Why should Kansas City struggle to pay Steve Glorioso?
The incompetents claim it's all a plot of one sort or the other.
ReplyDeleteThe competents know these things were put in to help decrease life threatening collisions a little bit.
I don't have any problem with you saying that the Missouri Supreme Court is incompetent. But stop pretending that it's just activists who oppose these cameras. They violate legal precedent and that needs to be noted in the argument against them.
ReplyDeleteThe Washington University Law Review says these are illegal as well, not just crazy activists http://law.wustl.edu/journal/32/Christensen.pdf
ReplyDeleteIf people run red lights, cops bust them, right? And the penalties for this extremely dangerous violation are unusually severe, like they are for DUI, right? If not, why not?
ReplyDeleteLaw enforcement and municipal revenue enhancement are not the same thing.
The douchebags who run Kansas City deserve to get slapped hard for pushing speed cams.
Yep the camera company is in business for the sole purpose of saving lives and anyone who believes that I have a bridge to sell ya. Issue me a citation when I wasn't driving the car. Arrest me when I refuse to pay the ticket. I dare you. Hell even a jailhouse lawyer is smart enough the city is barking up the wrong tree and apparently there are plenty of judges in this state who get it. If it ain't about the money then how 'bout the city give all that fine money to charity.
ReplyDeleteDont have to worry about the majority of beat cops writing any of these tickets. Times of change are upon us. Can you say a "Slow Down" on the horizon?
ReplyDeleteYou know what else would keep people from running red lights? Putting traffic sensors in the intersections so people don’t have to sit there (wasting gas) for minutes when there’s absolutely no cross traffic! Yes, I’ve literally sat there watching minutes go by! (as well as those in cars who are less patient)
ReplyDeleteCity Council doesn't know.
ReplyDeleteA lot of us have been hearing that rumor 4:31. A date needs to be set.
ReplyDeleteYeah rumor has it tax payers are gonna have a cry baby tantrum slow down and next year the police will be driving Kias, carrying rubber band guns and pea shooters, wearing died long johns and bicycle helmets.
ReplyDeleteIf it were really about safety, they could just set the lights to where they go red and stay red for all directions before a cycle change, The tickets only go to people who properly license their cars. The knobs that don't license their cars and just steal license stickers get a free pass. These are the same folks that are even more of a hazard because they most likely don't have insurance either. Why is the city so anxious to get them going again? If it ain't about the money, It's about the money.
ReplyDeleteagreed totally 627! NOTE: They also like to use stolen plates which is worse because the poor owner of the tags has to fight that crap in our worthless municipal court system.
ReplyDeleteThe SHEEPLE trying to make the case for keeping the red light cameras, even after the court ruled them unjust, should volunteer to have cameras placed in their home (bedroom, bathroom, etc.) vehicle, and workspace, to insure that they're obeying all laws 24/7.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, how come they're not all wearing tracking ankle bracelets?
MONEY QUOTE - “revenue raising” scheme."
ReplyDeleteIn other words City Hall retards sit and think up anything they can whether if violates the rights of the people or not, applies it to law and then asks the important questions later.
Demand City Hall provide the cost of litigation. An Appeal is not inexpensive. Also, the bill for the devices and service, the cost in law enforcement to process the violations and the cost of having to give back all of the fine money they took in plus interest.
City Hall should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is tantamount to malfeasance and incompetent governance. Here's plenty of reason to recall every single official at city hall.
The entire City's legal department needs to be flushed down the toilet. Their advice should be generating bar complaints against every one of these idiots for incompetency.
ReplyDeleteScott Taylor has made a career of chasing low hanging fruit. Don't expect me to give up this easily.
ReplyDeleteCan we sue the city to recover money from tickets already paid ?
