No one thinks this is the right thing to do but the officers at the scene should have taken control of the situation and Carl would be ok. It is a political move by Jean Baker to further her career. Most did the bare minimum and either took a desk job or got promoted. So a majority of these fuck tards don't know what true stress is when working these slum streets of the inner core of KC. The officers on the streets put up with so much from citizens in the inner city and there are a lot of times when they have to make a split second decision to save themselves along with others around them. There are many times when officers are assaulted by citizens and Jackson County does little to nothing when it comes to sentencing them other than just slapping them on the hand. If I heard Jean correctly she said, “If you ever lose faith in us, in the police or in prosecutors to do the right thing. And to do the right thing every time, then we have lost our ability to administer justice,” Before this happened several people had lost faith in the police department and the proscecutors, by charging an officer with assault is making people loose even more faith. The police department really needs to be investigated by the state as to all the wrongdoings it does, how there is so much favoritism among the blacks. It's an unfair playing field within the police department... Another thing that is crap is that Carl is taking all the "punishment" on this arrest when there was a Sgt and 2 officers that were there with him. This proves that officers really don't have each other's back and that is very scary.

They find officer wrongdoing which might warrant termination. Forte gets together with Butterface and Counti's lawyers and they work out a deal to where Counti pleads and does 30 days. The Chief and Butterface look good politically and in exchange Counti gets to keep his pension.

ReplyDeleteI live in Jackson County. What is this felony you speak of? I was taught that you can do just about anything in Jackson County and end up in city court or get probation. That's why I stay out of Platte county
DeleteI understand that officers are held to a higher standard but this is my issue with it all. If a citizen assaults someone like this it would be a city charge. Citizens stab each other, hit each other with bats and axes, hold a gun to someone's head, and so much more and Jackson County always declines the cases resulting in a city charge. This should have been a city charge. His shock time is more than many get for felonies in Jackson County.

Anyone who stands by and watches an officer do that should get X days and lots of them. Why are you not willing to protect your friends from themselves? Carl is human and it sucks that he made a mistake. And yes we are held to a higher standard than the carjacking piece of shit. And no I am not a commander, I've been working here for 13 years and am tired of you newbies ruining this department with your feelings of entitlement. Yep, it is tough to live under the spotlight 24/7, but you signed up for the gig. If you can not cut it do not make the mistake of feeding into that culture that justifies what has been going on. It is over and in a few days half the city will be watching KCPD on the streets. This blog stuff is going to explode.
I was friends with Carl before this happened and will continue to be his friend no matter what. He is human just like the rest of us, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. No one is perfect so everyone needs to stop passing judgement on him and everyone else that was involved in this situation. There are "what ifs" with everyone involved including Ponch and unfortunately things happened that day no one can take back. Right now everyone of us at the PD needs to be more of a family rather than turning against each other. We are better than this...

ReplyDeleteA response to the reply of my statement at 4:30...No, it is never okay to hit a cuffed suspect. I never said it was. The fact is, others have done far worse, and nothing happened to them because it never hit the news. Both black and white officers have done this before. The problem with KCPD is the inconsistency with which discipline/punishment is doled out. If you know the right people you get away scott free, while some one else might hang for the same thing. I once was involved in a car chase that went all over the city. At the end, I was one of the officers taking the suspects into custody. Five minutes after we had them cuffed, a sergeant walks up and starts choking one of the kids, slamming his head into the hood of a patrol car. His guys jumped in and pulled him away. I then turned to my right and watched two CAPTAINS laughing about what he had done. That is the real KCPD for you, the good and the bad. It is a stressful job, and can get to people. Nine times out of ten, your brothers will have your back and pull you off when need be. This time, that apparently did not happen. It also shows how incompetent the command staff is. They should have addressed that incident, but did nothing. To the people on here whining about officers airing department dirty laundry on a blog, shut the fuck up. Officers tried to do there complaining in private several times before. Remember the 2% blog? The command staff found out about that, and started threatening peoples jobs. And that was a private/members only blog. The fact is KCPD command can't stand being told they are wrong, and will do anything to stop anyone from vocally disagreeing with them. Go ahead, tell a sergeant/captain/major that a decision they made was unwise/unsafe, and see what happens. I have been there, and done that. Also, KCPD is not a family, it is a job. Every work place has people who do not get along. In the end, most officers will back up each other despite hard feelings. I say MOST, not all. I have personally seen COWARDS who refused to back a fellow officer in need. And to the assholes on here calling people NEWBIES, you can fuck off too. You act as if you have never talked shit about someone you work with on KCPD. This stuff is nothing new, been going on forever. The interaction you have had with someone might be way different than mine. That does not mean your opinion is right/wrong, just different. I have been partnered with females that no one else would ride with, and never had an issue. I have also been partnered with some females I would not trust to hold my QT drink without fucking it up. The same can be said for male officers I have been partnered with. The fact is despite their "bitching", most officers go out there everyday and do the job they are paid to do. They do not hide behind some cushy desk/office job, where no one is watching or holding them accountable. No, they jump in a patrol car armed with so much technology that any sergeant can watch them live from that cushy desk, and take notes on what to fuck them over with later. They don't eat meals on the tax payer dime, or crash their take home cars while drunk and then have their deputy chief buddy bail them out. No, they just do their job with integrity and honesty. And when they see someone else on KCPD doing something wrong, they call it out. And their reward is to be shit on. Have no doubt citizens, there are two KCPD's. One where good officers who make mistakes are hung out to dry. And another where whoever is in power at the time (black or white) takes care of their buddies by sweeping serious issues under the rug. KCPD is not doomed, but it will take the hiring of a chief from outside the department to start moving it in the right direction. Sly thought he had an ally in Forte. How is that working so far? To all the patrol officers, keep up the good fight, and be safe. And remember, it is just a job.

The fact is KCPD need a house cleaning from top to bottom and that culture has got to change. When officers defend criminal behavior because they had a bad day at the office they need to be gone and they need to never wear the shield again.
Now I agree, and I imagine most folks in town agree that KCPD is royally fucked, but declaring war on the citizens is only going to land some young bucks in prison at some point.
Most of them are KCPD where else can they go to complain ?
