ANOTHER STREETCAR TOY TRAIN WIN!!! MAYOR AND COUNCIL USE THANKSGIVING TO PASS ALL THEIR LEGISLATIVE TURKEYS!!!

Just as the TKC BLOG COMMUNITY predicted . . .
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL ARE USING THE SHORT THANKSGIVING WORK WEEK TO PASS THROUGH A VAST ARRAY OF CONTROVERSIAL LEGISLATION!!!
Here's today's turkey according to the KC Biz Journal:
KC Council committee signs off on $19M amendment to streetcar construction contract
It's par for the course and just a sign of the price tag for the toy train increasing as we get closer to X-mas.
More in a bit . . .
There's a sixty-three foot cruiser owned by the CEO of a constuction company at a marina at Lake of the Ozarks.
ReplyDeleteAnd its name is :"Change Order One".
All aboard KCMO taxpayers!
Motherfuckers.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everybody in KCMO gets to kick in money for the trolley. Guess the trolley people don't want to waste any of their $102M yet.
ReplyDelete1.The $19 million will go for preconstruction work...coming from the city's 2013 special obligation bond funds — a $78 million round of bonds the council authorized on Aug. 29.
2.Water Services Department already has issued $4.8 million in bonds to pay for water main work necessitated by the streetcar project.
FYI- this isn't an increase. the number has not changed. this is only about moving up the date of part of the cost to meet the construction deadline
ReplyDeleteit's also part water services and part streetcar budget
incidentally to the person at 11:33. the $78 million in bonds is the streetcar money. the $102 million includes federal grants that don't require bonds, which is why the number is lower.
Fun with numbers! KCMO taxpayers will be looking at twenty years of $10-15 million/year bond payments lasting LONG after all the excitement of the streetcar fad has disappeared and someone else has rolled into town with the NEXT BIG THING.
ReplyDeleteThe millenials will have bailed on their rents and moved to Prairie Village for the safety, schools, and yards and the folks who actually own houses and businesses in KCMO will just pay and pay.
Except, of course, for all the new players who get tax abatement, TIF, and other goodies.
How's the new downtown hotel coming?
The lawsuit is still in play. The Supremes could still decide to hear the case. In November's list of cases being handed down, Sue's and the other businesses' lawsuit was not listed. That means the Supremes are still mulling it over. It hasn't been dismissed yet or heard.
ReplyDeleteIf the case is taken at the Supreme Court and KC has start digging things up, there will be hell to pay. The businesses could win and then what?
7:54, more or less a long shot but still possible. People are keeping track of the true cost and that number will be significantly higher than the original estimate, and even what the city tells us.
ReplyDelete12:44 already showed us how they plan to spin this.
The Toy Train will be nothing more than a empty moving target for hood rats to shoot at from vacant buildings along the way. Assuming they can steal some ammunition.
