POLITICS OF KANSAS CITY HALLOWEEN!!!

Quick Kansas City teaching moment tonight . . .

Byron Crawford is our blogging mentor and we were horrified to notice a bit of social discord that he blogged featuring white vs. Black for Halloween.

It kills me to note anything nice about this city but this cowtown has never really had racial divisions on Halloween. In fact, it's kind of a tradition for everyone from the 1% on down to the working class to be as generous as possible.

Even better, we all know it's "slut-o-ween" and both big ladies and more trained and toned hotties are allowed to have a bit of fun tonight.

Back to the topic at hand . . .

In Kansas City, Halloween is one of the rare times when the East vs. West dividing line vanishes with absolutely no fear at all. It's an important but rare Kansas City tradition every year and it's too bad it takes people wearing stupid costumes to make it happen.

More in a bit . . .

  4. The east/west dividing line doesn't vanish for Halloween. If it did, white parents from Waldo and Brookside would take their kids past Troost to trick-or-treat. I'm sure no one does that. I think you mean that black kids come into the nice historically "white" neighborhoods to trick-or-treat. Yeah, that happens and no one over here cares because they're kids. They arrive by truckloads in my nice neighborhood, but I'm not going to begrudge kids candy on Halloween. If I were those poor eastside parents, I'd bring my kids to a neighborhood like this, too. At least you know they won't be shot over here.

  6. Happens in my nearly all white neighborhood too. Black kids come in by the carload. As long as their polite and in costume (at least make an effort), I'm happy to give them candy. It's the teens who are rude and don't even try to dress up that irritate me.

  9. About 8:00 the invasion from the east begins. Every year Brooksiders give generously. I gave out ten bags of candy. About 8 of those were given to east siders. I am proud of my neighborhood.

  10. I'm in Brookside and I only went through six big bags here! (Not all of my neighbors had lights on; I know some were out with their own kids.) But I made sure every kid who came to my house got a nice handful. I'd never seen most of them before, but I don't care where they came from; I'm glad to see them, to share, and to wish them well. All of the trick-or-treaters at my house had costumes on and said "thank you" and most had their parents with them, too. I hope all of the kids had a fun and safe night.

  12. Trick or Treat update!!! In Leawood, south of 95th St, there was a flashmob of little white people dressed very strange and carrying sacks and begging for candy. Imagine! What is the world coming to?
