A question for the ages and the topic of an upcoming Kansas City conversation . . .

Is It Time to Leave Kansas City?

Policy Breakfast: Is It Time to Leave Kansas City?

Kansas has just enacted sweeping tax reforms, in some cases wiping out some forms of income tax altogether. For years, residents of Kansas City have been lured into Kansas due to issues such as crime, education, and taxes, but have Kansas’ recent moves brought us to a tipping point?

  1. What group of dipshits. Crosby Kemper? Yes it's time for him to leave KC.

  2. About the only thing that will be left of KCMO is dive bars, tattoo parlors, fried chicken and sandwich franchises, criminals, and broke people holding the bag at this rate.

  3. ABSOLUTELY TRUE - I am looking for a house now. Kids out and in college, and need a much smaller home.

First criteria - New home will NOT be in KCMO. Period. Not even if free.

    ReplyDelete
  4. P.S. My current house is in KCMO.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I wouldn't live in Kansas on a bet. The most backward state in the union.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Crosby Kemper would play up the border war. After all, its a war between two states to see who can create a better environment for rich people at the cost of poor people. Also, who respects SLU? finance major at SLU and we are supposed to want your advice about running things? Crosby kemper should at the very least drop his post at the library and give it to someone with a sense of nobility. maybe someone who didnt inherit a bank.

  7. Kansas may be the most backward State in the Nation but at least they can plow their streets and fill pot holes.

  8. Crosby would make the most fantastic Mayor Kansas City has ever had; however, he's but one person and the ills of KC are deep and centered firmly on the East side of town. Is it time to leave? Probably way past time and some of us already have.

  9. Already gone!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd leave if someone would buy the house. Besides someone in a Mercedes offering 2 Cents on the dollar in cash so into can be turned into a future ghetto dump.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Whats the matter you got something against rental dumps buddy?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I can just imagine the hot messes this shindig will attract. Maybe the first-ever candlelight vigil in the daytime.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Don't worry! Preznit Obomba will tell Sly, hey dude, don't you think it's time to cut taxes, eliminate fraud and waste? Give the lil' folks a breather?

    ReplyDelete
  14. ha, haha, hahaha, hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  15. I came to Kansas years ago. Brownback is worse than Sly James. Where do I go next? Texas? Sam wants Kansas to be just like the Lone Star State, but he already sends his kids to private school. No thanks. I need suggestions. Quickly before the legislature rewards more billionaires. I don't want to join the second class poor who are paying the bill for everyone else.

  16. black unemployment now at 13% nationwide. Hope and
    Change.

  17. 2:28 we don't want you here. Celebrating my tenth year since I moved from Brookside/Waldo area. OPKS is the multicultural town that KC wishes it could be. There are Indians, Pakistanis, Hispanics, Chinese, African Americans, and Caucasians all living peacefully.

Don't bring your parochial attitudes here to JOCO and ruin it.

  18. Lets see, shitty infrastructure, shitty snow plowing, shitty basic services, and elected officials that do not listed and act like idiots (Russ Johnson)

    ReplyDelete
  19. If you move to KS you won't get all the benefits of a translational research tax.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well stay the hell out of Prairie Village for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Plae has been holding me back, man9/6/13, 4:51 PM

I'm out of here. Portland Oregon here I come!

    ReplyDelete
  22. The time to get out of KCMO was about 20 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just a meet to promote Missouri tax cuts. I'll continue to make porn on the Missouri side until those JoCo girls loose some damn weight

    ReplyDelete
  24. Rex Sinquefield and his Show Me Institute will be the death of Missouri. Fuck them all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 2:28 You have obviously never been to West Virginia or Mississippi. It's only gotten bad since Obama got elected and the Tea Party dickheads took over our politics. The people will have to wake up before our schools get really bad. If you have kids but can't afford private school there is no way in hell I would live in KCMO.

  26. The Show Me Institute is a great organization. I appreciate all of the insight they provide. Yes, it is time to move out of Kansas City. Kansas City is corrupt and the population has declined to near critical proportions. Kansas City used to have more than 600,000 people. Now, it's down to just around 430,000. There's a problem when you lose nearly 200,000 people to other places. Those 200,000, I contend were smart to move when they did. Some of us may be stuck.

  28. +1 2:13 PM

I'm looking for a place to stay right now, too. #1 criteria "NOWHERE NEAR KANSAS CITY"

Everything else is pretty much negotiable. I no longer want to live in Kansas City. Not even if they provide the KC Dream, Tax Abatement, MHDC financing and give the property away for free. You'll spend as much money in legal feees as they give in incentives trying to stay in your property and be a good steward. Kansas City just doesn't believe in democracy. Fuck 'em!

  29. Kc had 600.000 people? Answer:fuck no it dident ever.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Poor decisions, inept planning, ludicrous, ill-conceived concepts, total absence of creativity and imagination, over inflated salaries, . . . . .etc, etc

Yes it's time to abandon KCMO

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's so bad, I've stopped telling people I'm from Kansas City.

Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO are distinctly different. KCK and JOCO actually produce famous people. Kansas City just leaches on to famous people. That's the difference. I don't even say I'm from Kansas City, KS, either because people too often confuse it KCMO.

I just tell people I'm from St. Louis or Chicago.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congrats! That makes you a liar and a fraud. Hell you should embrace kc,you fit right in.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, duh. Who isn't left anyway. The time to leave was about 10 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would love to move back to KC but for the life of me, can't come up with a real reason to. Why would anyone, with even basic intelligence, want to live there? It's too bad but KC is no longer a liveable city at all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fuck it's not Baghdad like some of you profess. This city has it's share of problems but there are still many positives. What city doesn't have problems? I travel a lot and everywhere I go I read the local paper and they have the same issues with crime, corruption, excess taxes, etc. By all means move if it's that bad, but the yard on the other side may not be as green as you thought. There may be weeds growing there that you couldn't see from your skewed view.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Texas is the place to be.
