Does Kansas City Fear The Obamacare Delay And Impending Government Shutdown?!?!

Late last night a bit of D.C. shenanigans might resonate with locals given that this town is mostly broke, without healthcare and the Feds are the #1 employer in the Greater Kansas City area.

Check it:

CNN: Defiant House delays Obamacare; government shutdown looms

Fox News: House votes to keep government open, delay ObamaCare by 1 year

Guardian: House Republicans raise stakes and propose one-year delay of Obamacare

And so . . .

Given that most of Kansas City works for the feds in one fashion or the next . . . Does Kansas City fear the government shutdown or does tea bag rhetoric win the day but discounting all the ways that their lifestyle is also subsidized by Uncle Sam?

  1. The clamor about a government shutdown is simply hype.

  2. Americans are going to pay more, get worse care, have more paperwork and a more complicated system, and they are likely to die younger too? Wow, that sounds like a great deal.

  3. So far all these government "shut ups" and budget delays have only resulted in folks being left the hell alone. If a shut down will bring back a little freedom ...put a lock on it. It wont hurt a bit for bureaucrats to feel a little bit if what the entire country has been feeling since 2008.

  4. Health insurance companies helped write Obamacare, and their stock prices have absolutely soared since Obamacare was signed into law.

So invest that beer money into Health Insurance Stocks you won't regret it.

  7. One day we will figure out that the world does not end when the government shuts down. They are still going to take the taxes out of our checks and if they can't get by on that, well that there is the root of the problem.

  8. @9:31 It is about time that more people figure that out. The "too big too fail" companies need us to buy more insurance. If we really gave a crap about peoples' health care, we would pay for heath care not insurance.

It is a rough equivalent of socialized medicine, but I would prefer to cut out the middle men, and just require mandatory medical savings accounts from everyone. You pay for what you use and if you go into the red, hopefully there are enough people in the black to cover the overage.
