Thanks to a KC Insider for a photo from inside today's Courthouse vote on a Jackson County tax . . .
"The vote for an election was 7-2. The two the Republicans voted NO."
More on the subject . . .
Pitch: Yes or no to a sales tax increase: Jackson County voters to decide in November for funding of medical research
Still . . . Because this kind of complex issue isn't really my bag. Tell us how you'll vote and why because TKC usually votes no on all tax questions out of reflex.
Developing . . .
Hey Jeph, does Mike know you've been sending TKC photos?
ReplyDeletei will be voting NO...
ReplyDeleteDoes this include Medical Marijuana? Rep. Lafaver wants to know.
ReplyDeleteHeck, damn NO! In fact, they could have a tax to eliminate Sly James and I wouldn't pay it. (that would be great incentive for me but under no circumstances will a new tax be implemented with my vote.)
ReplyDeleteThe 800 million dollar sales tax for medical research is a bad idea and should be defeated. It is a regressive tax with no direct and immediate tangible benefits for your citizens. It strikes me as the Hospital's and Egghead's Relief Act of 2013. It certainly does not need to be considered in an election in November when no one will vote. If it is such a great idea, then, it should only be passed in conjunction with the 4 other counties in the metro area, as with the Bistate effort that resurrected Union Station.
ReplyDeleteFUCK NO. NO NEW TAXES. GET BY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE.
ReplyDeleteif the county really wants it to pass just let the dumb bastards in the street car district vote for it they will pass anything
ReplyDeleteJust so executives at a few local hospitals can upgrade their BMW's and Mercedes? No way.
ReplyDeleteNope. The money will just go to pay for executives and their administrative costs.
ReplyDeleteI will be voting FUCK NO on this measure Tony. Its sort of disgraceful that local Democrats vote in favor of regressive taxes and local republicans vote against, if funding medical research didnt seem like a sufficient waste of a regressive tax, I'm not sure what they had in mind. Maybe some drones.
ReplyDeleteYou mean to tell me there are 2 repubs in KC?
ReplyDeleteIn a word: No.
ReplyDeleteNO I will be giving to Obamacare
ReplyDeleteThis tax would be voted down in Johnson County 80-20. It will probably pass in Jackson County where we have a tax for stadiums, the zoo, drug warriors etc. There is a reason Jackson County is poor and getting poorer.
ReplyDeleteThis won't pass because Jackson County folks will actually have to pay it. They only like taxes that they connive to get Johnson Countians to pay.
