Congressman Cleaver From A Recent Radio Interview: "I think Michael Brooks would be the first person to acknowledge that what he did was . . . Stupid. I think he would say it. And I don't think we have to worry about that happening any more.
"I don't think he should resign until or unless it becomes an impediment to him representing the people of the 5th District. In other words, if other Council members begin to shy away from him so that they won't enter into some kind of coalition or work with him, that's a whole other issue. I would think however that if he can demonstrate his ability to continue to get things done for the people of the 5th District then I think he should remain. And I'm sure that right now it's very tough on him and tough on other Council members because some of them may be wondering, you know "if I get to close to him, is it gonna hurt me?" and that kind of thing.
"Some of us don't care. You don't abandon a friend or somebody with whom you've worked over the years because they got in some difficulty. I'd say 90% of the whole thing is something that impacts his family and the Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church and not necessarily the community. Unless there's something we don't know about, something that comes up at a later time. I think he's a good man, he did something dumb."

A few thoughts . . .
- Residents of the 5th District would be hard pressed to find anything Councilman Brooks has accomplished.
- It's not a question of the Council moving away from him . . . Because of his lackadaisical style, Council dude Brooks doesn't have a friend on the Council.
- Also, check Ryan Kath's reporting where he does in fact offer evidence that this scandal has greater implications beyond the family and faith life of Council Dude Brooks.
- Forgiveness is a nice thing . . . But this is a really low standard for Kansas City and the 5th District . . . Shouldn't we expect better representation than Council Dude Michael Brooks?
Meanwhile . . . The story of Kansas City's shameful sexting hot mess continues as Mayor and City Council know they'll have very little luck passing another tax as long as Council Dude Brooks remains on Council and they do NOTHING.

Sorry, I don't buy any of what Cleaver is saying and this just reveals his position where his friends are concern. I believe Cleaver has more than likely had this sextual discretion but it was way long ago in his younger years when this type of behavior was acceptable.

THIS MAN LIKE CLEAVER is held to a higher standard of moral conduct , what an absolute and complete embarrassment these people are, for cleaver to say he should not resign after stealing $15,000 from the tax payers and after putting himself in a position of sending obscene pictures of himself on a taxpayers expense phone. Not only is Brooks a Council Man but he is a Reverend and holds himself out as a man of God.

The people in power either all went to college together, had sex with the same folks, cheated on the same folks or did drugs in the same circles. So, power is no more than a drug dealers delight. It has nothing to do with education, accomplishment or ingenious discovery. Sure, there are a few but the majority of these people share a sexual partner.
Absolutely, nobody from the underground will come above ground until the old guard dies off.
When has-been groups like Freedom,Inc still exist and still maintain status in a community where they've done absolutely nothing for the people since at least 1960, then its clear that a person can live a lifetime on past wins instead of present wins.

In the end Brooks will get a pass no matter how much Tony screams. It would be great if things were different but in a city comprised of 30 percent black voters and 70 percent of thier kids are illegitimate, this shit will be taken as a minor infraction.
