Even the most Conservative Kansas City power brokers have called the recent Downtown Toy Train Election "one of the most undemocratic since the Pendergast era" in local politics.
Still, toy train supporters are pushing for more lines . . .
For further details check out the Next Rail KC site which is really little more than a bit of corporate branding for local architecture firm BNIM who seems to be doing nicely amid Kansas City streetcar fever.
OR . . .
Just look at this shameful map that doesn't involve much voting from the public and realize that 6 more toy train lines would probably equal about a billion dollars spent by Kansas City when this town is plagued by crime, crumbling infrastructure and white women running wild at our sports stadiums.
Again, the tragic thing about this BILLION DOLLAR IDEA is that Kansas City really only needs less than a thousand votes to pass the whole thing along to tens of thousands of taxpayers.
Developing . . .
Street car to Shady Lady!
ReplyDeleteWhat can possibly go wrong with a direct route from the highest crime areas in the metro straight to the power and light district and the plaza?
ReplyDeleteHello dude. If you had spent any time at in a high crime area, you would have realized that criminals dont use public transportation. They allready have stolen cars or cars bought with drug money that they use to drive to the plaza to commit more crimes. Honest people ride the bus. Where did you get the idea that gangsters dont drive. You are stupid.

DeleteRoutes running to/from brown town ... who could have seen this coming?!?
ReplyDeleteTony has a toy beard.
ReplyDeleteSomebody finally found Staubio's sensitive side!
ReplyDeleteHire more cops, fix the streets, fix the sewers you dumb, dumb fucking pieces of shit.
ReplyDeleteTHEN, you dumb, dumb fucks, there will be a city that people care about and it will thrive.
You dumb fucks, continue to think, that if your BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.
Fuck no, FUCK NO!!!
The politicians efforts, here in local government, are self aggrandizing and perniscious.
Ya think Sly wears that bow tie because he thinks it looks good?
In reality TV America, everyone thinks they can be a star. If Nene Leakes can make a 3 dollars
being herself, then Sly has a future with that bow tie. It is his signature, his identitiy and his efforts with the Toy Train are his Legacy.
Fix the GODDAMN MUTHERFUKIN streets!!
HIRE COPS TO STEM THE EVER RISING TIDE OF VIOLENCE!!!
GET BACK TO BASICS AND SERVE THE ELECTORATE YOU FUCKING FRAUD!!
By the way fuckhead, work some overtime, you owe shitheel. Those marches on the Plaza for Treyvon were misguided, ill advised and in the end, incorrect.
The working middle class was forced to bail out billionaire bankers who had been fraudulently inducing feeble minded dupes and trailer trash to purchase $500,000 McMansions five years ago and they expect us to buy into bullshit? Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteRapidly approaching in celestial proportions!! A bright future with free rides for all to and fro in a shiny new walkable urban utopia step right up . . . . . .
ReplyDeleteJosiah; bus drivers are getting punched in the face and stabbed at a time when we're investing hundreds of millions of dollars to convince white people that public transit is safe.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, but if you google "streetcar crime" you'll see a bunch of news stories from every city that has built streetcar in the past decade detailing the people who are robbed along the streetcar.
They're marketed for tourists and drunk, white people... perfect targets for criminals in a city where the mayor admits his hands are tied on crime issues, and fights guns by passing an ordinance that divests stocks from gun manufacturers (which apparently, the city owned none.)
This is designed to force muppets back into the taxpayer bag holder game where they will be fleeced for the third time in the last thirteen years.
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these proposed routes duplicates existing bus service.
ReplyDeleteHell we may as well bleed the taxpayers to death so we can be competitive with the criminals.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't beat em join em.
elbyron and chuck r usually right.
ReplyDeletechuck is very scarey, but tells it how it is.
With those routes get ready to subsidize the shit out of the toy train direct from city funds. First Detroit then KC as debt climbs and climbs and climbs. What's our shopping list now? Billion dollar airport, billion dollar sewer system, billion dollar train.
ReplyDeleteKind of like a perverted nightmare-road map of the future where we'll all ride free on the Toy Trains for our entire lives while driving ourselves into an early grave consuming mass quantities of beer, barbecue, and stress created by trying to achieve the lifestyle sold to us by Staubio, maggots, shysters and the mainstream media propagandists.
ReplyDeleteAny money budgeted for the extra transit police that will be needed to control the animals who will prey on the toy train.
ReplyDeleteThose routes look like Duckman with REAL FAST motion lines trailing after him!
ReplyDeleteRemember "Duckman"?
God Bless the Bagholders
ReplyDeleteI think you meant God help the Bag-holders dude.
ReplyDeletePut it all to a City Wide Vote like it should be (we the people remember that) and this whole farce would have never happened to begin with.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everything that ought to happen and it can't happen fast enough. Once again, this blog is stupid.
ReplyDeleteBillions of dollars for routes that are covered by buses and covered by cars in a fraction of the time.
ReplyDeleteThis first line is a tourist trap, let's not bullshit around that. Pretending this thing will be an actual working and used public transportation system is just ridiculous.
Is there any grassroots opposition to this? I can't find any if there is, so if there isn't people need to organize pronto. This is ludicrous, but I have no doubt they'll attempt to pull it off, or at least go broke trying, unless they are stopped. I'll help any way I can...
ReplyDeleteIt's already a liability and money loser the idiots pushing this farce should be deported somewhere for everyone's security.
ReplyDeleteOh... So since we had a rush of violence on ata buses lately.... Yeah.... Lets get a "toy train"! Hate to say it KCMO will be bankrupt in a few years if they keep spending $$$ the way they are
ReplyDeleteThese streetcar people are totally out of control. They must be stopped before they bankrupt the City.
ReplyDelete6:30pm. You forgot about Sly's new convention hotel.
ReplyDeleteIf those truly are the train routes what a joke. Independence Ave? A taquito and a whore; 12th street? a junk car; 18th street? a single underperforming tourist attraction; linwood? guaranteed bullet holes in the side of the train; SW Blvd? more taquitos; 12th st? no fucking idea at all.
ReplyDeleteLooks like voter bait more than anything else at this point. James is going to have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a second term anyway may as well get going now.
ReplyDeleteI fully intend on supporting it - and I will ride the train frequently when I go downtown - just to piss you people off. Call it my form of counter-protest.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's nothing you can do to stop me.
Till you get your ass robbed and realize leaving your spouse girlfriend kids whoever to bury you isn't what you want your legacy to be
DeleteYou go right ahead and ride away 8:59 comfortable in the fact that the entire city is going to pay for your opportunity to ride a couple blocks to some douchebag destination on the toy train in a city that can't even provide for the most basic public services.
ReplyDeleteMaybe KC should hire Bernard Goetz as a security adviser.
ReplyDeleteBe great if future lawsuits to shut this piece of garbage taxpayer down would go class action.
ReplyDeletetaxpayer ripoff sorry.
ReplyDeleteSo they going to mount blades on these things to clear snow in the Winter. ROFLMAO!!
ReplyDeleteNo ones going to use this piece of shit this is the Midwest. Cars rule and will always rule!
ReplyDeleteBillion Dollar loses to business owners while this outdated and obsolete contraption is slapped together. Streetcar supporters going to reimburse them?
ReplyDeleteA company selected to build Cincinnati’s streetcar system wants $492,993 more for the work, a price increase it attributes to a delay in beginning the project.
ReplyDeleteROFMAO!!
I am the 8:59 Commenter -
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily agree with the idea that this train should be built. I do agree that the political handling of this was very shady. I would much rather have seen a regional commuter-based light-rail; something that one could use to park-and-ride from outskirts of town to downtown - and use to get to/from things like Royals/Chiefs games, events at Sprint Center/Municipal - or even a link from KCI Airport to downtown.
In other words- something that could be of benefit in transporting people to/from destinations which attract large crowds, including everyday commuters.
And again, I will admit that the handling of this politically was very questionable (getting it passed at the ballot box, etc).
But - when it comes to the nasty, hateful, vulgar attitude and absolute anti-intellectual stupidity you people display on this blog and comments on a non-stop basis - I would rather support a transit streetcar than you people.
It's the same reason that I endeavor to partonize downtown, *PL District, the Plaza, the *Kauffman PAC - in addition to the fact that I enjoy those places personally, it's my way of giving the middle finger to the pile of human debris that pollutes this blog and its comments threads.
*And the fact that Tony and his disciples have a boycott on these places only ensures that the likes of you people will not be there to ruin it for the rest of us. So absolutely, please continue your stupid futile boycotts of those places, and please do boycott the streetcar - so as to keep yourselves away from the rest of us.
I hope you enjoy those places. I do too. Im a mugger and I like to get stabby with my muggins. See you soon!
DeleteOh well isn't that special!
ReplyDeleteIn other words- something that could be of benefit in transporting people to/from destinations which attract large crowds, including everyday commuters.
ReplyDeleteIt's called the automobile.
Fuck you traffic asshole keep your stupid ass in St Joe. You're nothing but a shit stirring nobody.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I think it's time your bosses see what kind of crap you are writing about here in these blogs I will be sure to send them copies of all this tomorrow as I demand you be removed from your job which is funded by taxpayer dollars.
I like my Toyota Prius. My other car is a big ol' Ford Pickup!
ReplyDeleteLong live personal transportation!!
I got an even better deal why don't you streetcar supporters just move to San Fruitn'nutcisco. Plus you can grab your Google bus to SiliCON Valley to get to work and eat your Google tube burgers.
ReplyDeletethis sludge they're pumping down from Canada is like holy water. It make scars run like a chevy impala. God Bless You Chuck Koche. May all of your grand kids be born with two heads
ReplyDeleteagreed brave 1039 kc ha got on pretty well over the last 60 years without a streetcar that has been obsolete for the last 100
ReplyDeletedont act like anyone cars about the poor, destitute east side either. those lines will never be built not in a milion years
city hall needs lye and borax
Main Street south is the only feasible second step.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it at all. All of those routes already have heavy bus coverage. And what attraction is on those routes that would call for such an expensive mode of mass transportation? I could understand if the thing went to the airport or to the sports complex, or even to get people from outlying areas to work and/or events downtown. But all the coverage is in one small section of town. Anyone outside the inner city is...once again...screwed.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good.
ReplyDeleteTony you sound more like Funkhouser every day.
Anyplace niggers are allowed to graze, unmolested, is a patently dangerous area. This "toy train" thing is a disaster just waiting to happen. When the niggers see all this free game, you'll know that it's on!!
ReplyDeleteThis can work with Stabios New Apartheid that he plans to impose. By pushing the black population east of hwy 71 , iron gates will be placed over the highway. The trains will be for whites to reduce risk of beheadings
ReplyDeleteYou cannot "have people fired from their jobs" because you don't like the opinions they express. Especially when you so coward that you remain anonymous.
ReplyDeleteThe kind of stuff being posted? Are you kidding? Look at the non stop vulgarity, profanity, and racial slurs being spewed here every day??? And you're mad about someone saying they're going to ride the train to spite you?
ReplyDeletejust dont put the train on the bus line.. run the train out gilliam park to lee summit to indepenednce as the hub
ReplyDelete
