Pitch reports on blogger stunt: "Former Kansas City Star newsman Jim Fitzpatrick has registered a campaign committee to oppose a November 5 ballot measure in Jackson County to increase sales taxes for translational medical research."
He has $500 bucks on hand which won't by yard signs . . . Remember that Fitzpatrick donated more than $3K to Mike Burke's mayoral campaign in his first high-profile losing foray in to local politics.
He's asking for donations on his blog and promises they'll be used properly . . . Credit to the blogger for stumbling upon the same profit model used by political blogs back in the go-go days of 2008.

Good for Jim. I'll donate.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Wouldn't mind throwing him a few bucks if he's serious about this cause. Hope he isn't just doing it to get attention.
ReplyDelete!
ReplyDeleteJim Fitz should contact the Eastern Jack Mayors. The money set aside from the county was earmarked for a Mike Sanders' wet dream toy train. The mayors were heavily courted and did believe that Mike was being honest. HA! Kite singleton got the real Mike sanders in that email!
Anyway, why should the Mayors allow a County wide tax that they will not see spent in their cities? Lees Summit, Blue Springs and Independence have large medical centers. Why are they out of the money loop? Why should their residents pay a sales tax to be spent at St. Luke's and Children's Mercy?
Not Fair.
A person wanting to be County Exec has a built in issue with this unfair tax, plus the stupid talk by Mike regarding the doper Lafaver. Is the research for MEDICAL marijuana? Mike is running Combat, Mike wants to abandon his post to be State AG. Perhaps the Springfield lawyer will help out in a campaign.
The money set aside from the county was earmarked for a Mike Sanders' wet dream toy train ELECTION. not for this shadowy health tax.
ReplyDeleteIf the tax for medical research passes, proponents are promising that among the first projects to be funded will be:
ReplyDelete1) Going Deep: Exploring Councilman Brooks cranium for evidence of any remaining gray matter.
2) Mayor James: A Study of Infantile Regression
Is there a correlation between excessive weight gain and obsession with toy trains?
3) The Blame Game: Congressman Cleaver and the pathology of denying responsibility for one's actions.
4) Up In Smoke or Down In Flames: MO Rep. Jeremy Lafaver's "joint" problem.
