Expats?Nah... We thank Danny, Erin, Kelly, Patrick, David and so many others for the festival--
ReplyDeletehow can anyone take the KC Irish Fest seriously when they don't serve Guinness????? THE KC IRISH FEST IS A FUCKING JOKE!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, because Guinness is all there is to Irish culture.
ReplyDeleteYou're a fucking idiot.
I'm not sure I understand defining your ethnicity or authenticity based on a brand of beer, but to each his own.
ReplyDeleteAs far as our beverage selection at Irish Fest, here's what I wrote a few days ago: http://kcirishfest.blogspot.com/2013/08/how-come.html
have you ever been to Ireland? Guinness is a way of life there. It's the biggest export they have. If you are going to serve beer at an Irish festival Guinness should be an option.
ReplyDeleteOf course I've been to Ireland, several times. I like Guinness as much as anybody, although I've seen Boulevard Stout beat it soundly in blind taste tests. And Guinness isn't anywhere near Ireland's largest export. The Guinness you drink here has never been to Ireland. It isn't even an Irish owned company. They've done a masterful job of marketing it to Americans for sure, but I promise you can have a fine Irish festival without it. In addition to KC, the largest and most successful Irish Fest in the world in Milwaukee serves not a drop of Guinness.
ReplyDeleteI'd say one more thing on this subject: if you choose not to come to Irish Fest just because of a brand of beer that we're not pouring you're really going to miss out on a lot of great music, dance, comedy and drama, a lot of it directly from Ireland. And if you really need a drink made in Ireland, we have Magners Cider and Jameson Irish Whiskey. I hope we'll see you there.
ReplyDeleteso they are lying on their website?
ReplyDeleteAll the GUINNESS® sold in the UK, Ireland and North America is brewed in Ireland at the historic St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin.
You list a lot of excuses why you don't allow Guinness to be served when it comes down to $$$$. That's all you have to say.
I give up. Enjoy your boycott.
