  1. This is beyond sad. More of this is happening because men don't step up and support their families like a man should. Then the mothers would be home with their kids and the kids would be raised by their parents instead of daycare workers. And women need to start making better decisions about who they have kids with. This didn't go on back in the 60's and before. A disgusting example of what a large section of society has become.

  2. One would like to think that the "men should support their families" statement would solve the problem.
The fact is this: Most homes with two parents still rely on daycare, because they are both working full time jobs. That is what is required to maintain even a chance to stay in the disappearing middle class.
This wasn't as frequent in the 1960's because the cost of living was not as high and one spouse could support the family.

  3. 5:21, that's been the favorite excuse for the past 30 years, and couldn't be more untrue. The reason they could do it in the 60's and before was because dad worked and came home after work to be with his family, who he was proud and protective of. He didn't go out with his bro's or to activities of his own. The family didn't have two cars, and the one they had was one they could afford. They ate together of a dinner made by mom, not brought home in a bag. They had one phone, and the kids weren't allowed to be on it all the time. They had one TV, which was in the living room, and it wasn't on all the time. The family's activity was being together: talking, listening, teaching, learning, laughing, praying and loving. The poor weren't overweight, they didn't have multiple TV's and phones, hundreds of dollars worth of tattoos and a sense of entitlement. You think it couldn't be done today, where parents actually take care of their own kids? Well, it's being done by millions of Americans today, but they're not the one's you hear about their kids dying in daycare or being killed in drive-bys and robberies. There is a great difference in people, and it's time we accepted that and called it the way it is.

  4. Keep living in your bubble, 6:29. Things change. This isn't 1960 and we are not going back. You can sit and weep over what USED to be. That won't make it so. Besides, I was quite alive in 1960. Things weren't quite the paradise that people like you go on and on about.

  5. Obviously, the person leaving the comments blaming this horrible tragedy on the fact that this Mother was at work and not at home taking care of her children is beyond confused about the situation. Pointing fingers and being stereotypical of one's family situation is easy to do. However, SIDS, which is more than likely the cause of death in this situation, is a harsh reality and it happens everyday in every neighborhood.
Oh and not that it matters any in this particular situation but there are plenty of stay at home Mothers, living in an upscale, "perfect" neighborhood who end up taking their own children's lives. Now what is your objection?
This is a horrific tragedy for anyone to have to endure and for one to sit around and point fingers is sad. This is a time for prayer not ignorance.
