KCPT News dude Nick Haines moderates tonight's discussion regarding the proposed new single-terminal airport.
Here's what stands out most at this moment . . .
THERE IS NO SIGN OF KANSAS CITY AIRPORT DUDE MARK VANLOH AND COUNCILMAN RUSS JOHNSON!!!
Maybe they're just running late . . .
Big turnout from Save KCI folks in their red shirts.
Overall it's a polite discussion hitting all the typical points like fees and ticket prices along with plane de-icing strategy . . . Questions from the crowd coming soon.
Council dude Dick Davis: KCI is "worst airport in the world to get stuck in."
Council Dude Wagner: "The issues facing KCI . . . Are they enough to justify replacing it? Maybe they are and maybe they aren't." TKC Note: WTF?
John Murphy: "We all live in houses that approach 100 years old. (APPLAUSE) When something goes wrong we don't tear down the house and build a new one. We should spend more than a billion dollars when these problems can be solved for much less."
Response from another panelist: "We're not going to keep a 100 year old airport. We need to update our airport and find the best way to do it."
Nick Haines: "Who are these other airlines that are coming to Kansas City?"
Councilman Sharp asks a question: Nobody doubts the airport committee will recommend a single terminal. How can the public work to assure we don't lose the customer convienience @ KCI - which is one of the nation's best
Developing . . .
Being stuck with Dick Davis makes anyplace the worst place in the world.
ReplyDeleteNobody is willing to make a tough call.
ReplyDelete7:49, especially VanLoh
ReplyDeleteThis is going to cost KC BILLIONS upon billions and there is no reason to increase costs at the airport so much.
ReplyDeleteCharles Erwin Wilson, former CEO of General Motors was infamous for saying: “What is good for General Motors is good for America.” In Kansas City, it appears that whatever is good for the big three: J.E. Dunn Construction, UMB and Commerce Banks, is good for Kansas City and because of this reality, all this discussion on whether or not a new single terminal at KCI is pointless. I would call these discussions a circus but the circus is exists to be entertaining. The big three of Kansas City want this and they have spent good money on the election of the current crop of politicians in local government and it is time to pay the fiddler.
ReplyDeleteThere is a term for this phenomenon: corruption. Corruption is ruing governments across the Earth on all levels. It is endemic and unless it is stopped, civilization as we know it will collapse under this rotten structure. This has happen because we allow power to people who do not care about the common good, have no empathy for the people who live now nor care about the people who follow them in the future or care how history will judge them.
No Russ?
ReplyDeleteHe's probably caught up in traffic yelling at some woman.
Bwahahahahaahahahaha!
The KC ruling class, facing a life and death struggle over survival, strikes back with all the forces – state and private – at its disposal to ensure that its financial needs are met.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Commerce has taken some hits in this economy and had not reached their growth potential of a gazillion percent. So everyone is gonna have to tighten their belts and live in mud huts for the next century. Sorry folks but this is called usury
ReplyDeleteActually, Russ and VanLoh are waiting with a bus to carry the post-trial Trayvon rioters to the airport to burn it down.
ReplyDeleteOne of the council members said KCI is the worst airport to get stuck in? Are you kidding me?
ReplyDeleteThese guys must be paid off, or will be if these goes down. You know how KCMO operates.
10:44...huh?
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you son of a bitches on thing, wreck the airport and you've wrecked Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteGood luck gentlemen.
Fixing the water, sewage and buried cable is really not what commerce bank is into
ReplyDeleteCommerce bank? I thought this was all HNTB and Burns & McDonnell's fault?
ReplyDeleteThere's a good editorial in today's Star about how costs FAR exceed initial estimates. It will be the same with the new airport and (especially) the toy train.
