Sad news this morning regarding a prominent Kansas City family:
Passing of Carol Brooks, wife of Alvin Brooks & Statement from Councilman Jermaine Reed
It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Carol Brooks, the beloved wife of Mr. Alvin Brooks, longtime community activist in Kansas City.
Surrounded by her loved ones, she passed away peacefully shortly before midnight onSunday, July 21, 2013. She was 78.
"I offer my deepest condolences to the Brooks family. Blessed with the opportunity to grow up in her presence, I marveled as Carol serve as a rock for her family, and a pillar of strength for her husband Alvin Brooks," stated Councilman Jermaine Reed. "During these difficult times, I encourage the Kansas City community to join me in offering up thoughts and prayers to the Brooks family." Services arrangements are pending.

Mr. Brooks is a great man and it saddens me to see this news about his wife.
