Pitch parent pulls plug on Nashville City Paper
The money quote that's bad news for so many Kansas City media efforts . . .
“After years of being subsidized by our investors and other Southcomm publications, we finally determined that there was not enough advertiser support for the free newsweekly model we were trying to sustain. The model proved very popular with readers, but in publishing the revenue doesn’t necessarily follow the readership.”
And that thoughtful explanation provides yet another reason why my bloggy adventures @ TKC hasn't taken adverts for the moment and also reveals blogs that do are on borrowed time as well . . .
The best clubs in Nashville are disco's these days. Even the Southern Pride Movenment isn't selling these days

ReplyDeleteAgree
ReplyDeleteLocal Pitch will die as well. Glazer touched it so the end is near.
ReplyDeleteNice try, TKC, but City Paper apparently nothing like the Pitch. It was a free, 5-day-a-week paper. Some staff laid off, some redeployed to their two other local papers, Nashville Scene and Nashville Post.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA Tony is busted again!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteActually, I went back and re-read; frequency shifted to weekly back in 2008. Still, they have two other alternative papers in the market. They're not abandoning the biz.
ReplyDeleteNashiville is loser town. Forget that market!
ReplyDeleteGemma Atkinson has the most beautiful tits in the world.
