The Kansas City Week In Review Special!!!! KCI Airport Single-Terminal Plan Forum

Earlier this month TKC was FIRST to report from a forum at the KC Public Library on the subject of the KCI single-terminal Airport plan.

Now . . . TAKE A LOOK AT THE KCPT WEEK IN REVIEW KCI SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT PROPOSAL!!!

It's a really great and comprehensive discussion that brings everybody up to date on the developments and debate surrounding the airport plan . . . Also, I'm sure she was cut out but there was some weird broad there who asked an insane question that threw everybody off.

More importantly . . .

It's worth repeating . . .

NEITHER COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON NOR AIRPORT GUY MARK VANLOH ARE PRESENT TO ANSWER AIRPORT QUESTIONS!!!

Even earlier this month the main instigators of the KCI single-terminal proposal had simply opted out of any "adult discussion" and still refuse to answer questions . . .

More deets on the WIR KCI AIRPORT SPECIAL from Youtube:

"A $1.2 billion proposal to replace KCI's three terminals with a single terminal as seen in most U.S. airports has become one of the metro's most publicly divisive issues of 2013. Might it really happen this time? Will passenger convenience suffer? Backers say the hefty pricetag will be paid by the federal government and the airlines. But will the airlines end up passing the costs on to us? With air travel decreasing locally and nationwide, is this a smart move for the city?

"Join Nick Haines and experts on all sides of the issue as Week in Review goes on location in front of an audience of engaged citizens at the Kansas City Downtown Library. This hour-long special is a joint partnership between KCPT, The Citizens Association."

  1. Four, fat bastards, in suits, who obviously have no more knowledge than the average person, walking down the street. Yeah, this'll lead to it being handled properly.

  3. The dilemma with KCI is.

    1. The passengers like it, because of its convenient layout and ease of maneuvering around.

    2. The airlines, not so much, because of the layout of the airfield relative to the terminals.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing - an aircraft arriving or departing can have a rather long taxi to the appropriate runway - compared to other major airports. Ever flown into/out of MCI, and noticed how it seems like it takes SO long to get from terminal to end of runway?

Also, did you know that FAA regulations require all airports to do either upgrades or total rebuilds of their airport terminals every 10-15 years? That's also a likely underlying component to this? The city may have been told by the FAA "time for you to do a major renovation or rebuild of your facility".

  4. Paid by the Federal Government. Who in the fuck do they think the Federal Government is? It is our taxes. The fat white bastards are shills for Burns & McDonnell, Dunn Construction and the Kemper family banks. Who are they fucking kidding?!? We don't need this airport but we are going to get it.

  5. 10:40 I think you are wrong about everything except item #1. KCI has unusually well placed terminals. No way you are right on the FAA part. If true, we would not have all of the much older airports all over the place. Also, no city could afford to issue half a billion in bonds every 10 years.

  6. I'm sure I heard somewhere, where there was a requirement of periodic airport upgrades.

    But I might have mis-heard.

Personally, I like MCI the way it is. We simply don't have the huge amount of air traffic to warrant any major expansion. In fact, isn't Terminal C completely empty?
