TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COURTHOUSE INSIDER: JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT MESS WILL MAKE OR BREAK EXEC MIKE SANDERS!!!
Jackson County political consequences for the current drama over property taxes continue to mount.
Let's not forget that AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS broke this story.
The latest follow-up is that the hot mess is much bigger than anticipated AND could result in a tragic revenue shortfall.
But this deal gets even more interesting.
To wit . . .
CHECK THIS INSIGHT FROM A KICK-ASS INSIDER REVEALING THE POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS FOR PROPERTY TAX DRAMA ON THE CAREER OF JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS!!!
Here's the word:
"Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders is doing something almost no public official would do and that is hire an outside consultant and then let them go public with a rather scathing review of his own government.
"Most politicians hire an outside consultant who comes in with layer upon layer of tissue paper to cover their ass.
"County Executive Sanders is either crazy or a damn good public official. Transparency is not what elected officials are all about when there is a controversy within their government.
"Property assessment controversies have brought down more than one Jackson County Executive, the most notable was Dale Baumgardner who lost his re-election to Bill Waris in the 1980's over a similar issue. He tried to hide and cover up the failings of his subordinates and paid the price."

In this case, the recent political perspective is apropos and reminds us how quickly public perception can change when money disputes arise.
DEVELOPING . . .
It all depends on how sweetly The Star treats him.
ReplyDeleteHis assessment department messed up, because they are under staffed. He has worked to make it right since it happened.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. If he hires more people -- good people -- and sends a few packing this thing blows over. If not?
ReplyDeleteCertainly the NSA has been recording his calls and emails. Wonder how much that would cost to get?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone checked how many hours Curtis Koons was actually working since Bob Burnett left his side for retirement? The word from the courthouse was that he was missing in action until Sanders brought in the SWAT team of consultants and his hatchet man Calvin start swinging.
ReplyDeleteWhen your hired consultants publically say your assessment department is fucked up does Sanders and his girl power allies of Crystal and Teresa have a choice other than cleaning house. Girls get out your brooms.
ReplyDeleteBrooms? WTF? Frequent flyer miles are not redeemable at the county courthouse. We use swiffer sweepers around here.
DeleteWho gives a fuck about Sanders anyway? He's worthless as the second row of tits, on a boar hog. The asshole is washed up and should just go get a real job and SOON.
ReplyDeleteCurtis will be the fall guy. The set up began today.
ReplyDeleteCalvin is not a hatchet man -- at least not inside the Courthouse.
ReplyDeleteSanders needs a hatchet man. Then he needs to point that person at Calvin.
Getting rid of Koons would not be a "fall guy" situation and it would not be a "set up."
ReplyDeleteThe removal of Koons is necessary and but not sufficient.
If Koons leaves that is a big loss for Calvin. Koons has been under Calvin's protection for years.
Sanders et al have done a good job managing and trying to solve Koons' screw up. If Koons doesn't go, it will surprise me. The honorable thing to do is to quit if you are Koons.
ReplyDeleteKoons should not be a scapegoat, but he is a big part of the problem and he should be gone. The loser is known for hanging out with underage girls and drug users. No wonder the assessments are fucked up. There is much speculation, but no one knows for sure why Calvin has protected this guy. Tony's term "political favors" comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteAfter repeated staff cuts over the past 7 years, people in the assessor’s office lacked the staff to do the job right. Governing is hard. Administration is hard. Simple slogans (like Sanders' favorite "we have to do more with less") are no replacement for analyzing needs and applying resources accordingly. Simply cutting budgets to show how tough you are is stupid.
ReplyDeleteDoing more with less as public policy comes from the same geniuses who went to war over "finding the WMDs." Brilliant! It might go over as a big applause line when he talks to the Pachyderm Club but that is a confederation of dunces if there ever was one. Actually implementing that slogan has landed Sanders in a world of pain.
ReplyDeleteWhere does the Klan rally fit into this picture?
ReplyDeleteMike is going to be a bigger political target with his Democratic connections. He should get used to it.
ReplyDeleteCalvin cannot let anyone leave unhappy because they might testify as to what they did for Calvin.
ReplyDeleteMike is stupid, but I am surprised that Georgia does not see that Calvin is toxic.
This issue has taken down other County Executives you have one job as Executive that is to collect taxes if you screw that up you will lose.
ReplyDeleteKoons mother wasn't much of a politician either.
ReplyDeleteOh Yeah! The entire county is to believe that boosting up the tax base by jacking up property values was a misfortunate accident? Get the Fuck Outta Here Already!
ReplyDeleteCan't we get a new crop of people. These old cronies are running our county and our city into the ground.
ReplyDeleteActually, most of the values are FAR below market value.
ReplyDeleteMike's office is overstaffed and overpaid. Mike is gone.
ReplyDeleteSanders comes off looking like a tv preacher, in a cheap suit. On top of that, the asshole sounds like one too. Paahleese, if you'd like to be annointed oh brother, just send me a check for a new prayer cloth....
ReplyDeletePlace your hand on the monitor and pray with me brother?
ReplyDeleteHe might be a close relation to Reverend Pee Wee Wee Herman
ReplyDeleteLady Karma has finally come to visit this piece of shit known as Mike Sanders. And she is one vicious, vengeful bitch with a very long memory.
