TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! SCOUT SYSTEM STAYS LOSING AND WASTING SAYS KANSAS CITY INSIDER!!!

Kansas City traffic problems are quickly rising to the top of local concerns as of late.
To wit . . .
CHECK THIS KANSAS CITY INSIDER TESTIMONY REGARDING THE FAILING OF THE EXPENSIVE AND APPARENTLY BUSTED KC SCOUT SYSTEM!!!
Lots of inside detail here and EXPERT analysis of a yet another Kansas City technological breakthrough that has failed to live up to the hype.
KC Insider On The Scout System
"I don't know if it's incompetence or the people who work there just don't care... it is a freaking joke. It cost more $42 million initially, and it's quite expensive to maintain on an annual basis... I don't know exactly but given the quality of the product - Whatever they're getting is too much. On top of that they added these ramp meters that are a total waste as well... and who knows how much that cost. They come on even when traffic is light. How much gas is wasted by people stopping and then starting on the ramp? Plus.... There is no evidence that they do what they're supposed to do... and that is alleviate congestion and prevent accidents. The Scout folks published some stats that said accidents are down, but I don't believe them. Even if they are, how in the world can you be sure it had anything to do with the lights? We had what - Just a few inches of rain last year? Wouldn't a year's worth of dry roads add up to fewer accidents? Clearly, a lot of the hype about their contribution to the safety of local streets is all b.s. Anyway, there's a laundry list of stuff that isn't managed properly or just flat out doesn't work. The best part though.... they get VERY DEFENSIVE over any criticism at all... about the thinnest skin you could imagine."

Check the slow loading Kansas City Scout webpage and then realize that the wide and well-maintained roads of Johnson County aren't paved with gold . . . They just seem that way.
DEVELOPING . . .
Those signs are dangerous and one of the biggest wastes of money KC has seen in a long time.
ReplyDeleteFucking asshole drivers text all the time but slam on the brakes to read a fucking Scout sign.
ReplyDeleteStreetcar is now wining the biggest KC waste of money but the new airport is climbing up fast along with the new 1000 room convention hotel.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and they have no fucking idea how to drive in the rain or even light snow!!
ReplyDeleteTotal waste. MoDOT's taxpayer psid PR billboards
ReplyDeletewhat consultant lobbeid the Council to put those signs in place to begin with? Kim Carlos? Cathy Nugent? Scott Burnett? And oh yes Virginia Scott does lobby the city while he is a County Legislator.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with you people. Do you not have anything better to do than rip on anything and everything that has to do with KC? This article does not even explain how the scout system is "broke" or why it's a waste of money. Maybe it is, but it sure doesn't say that here. Most major cities have an ITS system, they actually do help keep traffic flowing.
ReplyDeleteAirports, convention hotels, light rail? Yea, real cities that grow and prosper and remain vibrant places that compete nationally and globally do stuff like that. There is a reason why Denver, Minneapolis (ok, just about every city out there), has blown past KC and it's not because they went broke building light rail, modern airports convention hotels because most cities have done all of those things before KC can put a band aid on it's 1970's era infrastructure.
Go get em KC.
ReplyDeleteKANSAS CITY MO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, IT IS A MODOT PROJECT!!
9:53- What a stupid, uninformed comment.
ReplyDeleteThe reason KC lags behind is because our metro is split between two states. Period.
It has little to nothing to do with any of the projects you cite. The proof?
Name one public project that has moved the needle to help KC in relation to those other cities. Just one.
Sprint arena and performing arts center.
Delete9:53 thinks that taxing the shit out of people makes for a better KC.
ReplyDeleteWhich engineering or construction firm does that asshole work for?
10:26 I actually agree with you and 9:53
ReplyDeleteFirst of all KC is split and so the powers that be do not come together to form a vision for the ENTIRE metro. They just focus on their little hamlets and burgs and try to steal the few corporate headqurters we have back and forth accross the state line and north and south of the river.
Meanwhile other cities did blow past us by doing the projects mentioned, light rail, new stadiums, downtown development, when they were prosperous. They built on small starter light rail lines. They took advantage of the economic boom. They took a well-thought out chance. They may have even used TIF money the way it was meant to be used.
Now why these dpn't work for KC?
Ans: We are always a day late and a dollar short to the party. We do it after everyone else. We try to do a half-a-- copy of what they have done rather than do what would work for us. Then we try and do it on a shoestring, tapping the same local soundations and over-taxed citizens (yes over-taxed for the wages we make here) We only apply for the federal dollars once the programs are all but gone.
Who needs Scout? Russ and Sly will have us all riding the toy train.
ReplyDeleteExpert analysis? Seriously? Tony, just because somebody complains doesn't make it an expert analysis.
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one today.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to surf to my homepage michael kors watches
@11:49 Tony is an expert analist, as long as you're a fat white bitch with huge fake hooters.
ReplyDeleteSeems to only be of use to filling video type on TV newscasts. Let THEM pay for it. I know I don't need to see bad pictures of traffic tieups when I'm at home not actually watching in the morning.
ReplyDeleteScout is a total waste and KC does direct funding to MoDot. It's all connected and just a shame that taxpayers are screwed over and over with every new pet project.
ReplyDelete1:23- Both private projects. Try again.
ReplyDeleteNo you can't take it away! Johnny Rowlands needs it to convince us dummies that he uses Scout video to make Channel 9 viewers think he's really in the chopper.
ReplyDeletePAC is private. Sprint is public.
ReplyDeleteBig waste of money for nothing. Bet some consultants, promoters, and contractors made some big bucks.
