Construction on Kansas City streets has been so poorly timed and badly planned that local biz is starting to suffer.
In fact, the situation is starting to deteriorate so quickly that MODot is stepping up their propaganda campaign and advising drivers about the mess they've created.
Nevertheless . . .
TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! THE FIRST WEEK OF CONSTRUCTION ISN'T EVEN OVER YET AND ALREADY KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN BIZ OWNERS ARE STARTING TO GRUMBLE WHILE MAKING DESPERATE CALLS TO POLITICOS!!!
Sadly, there's really not much that can be done and once again our political elite have failed to protect Kansas City's small biz community.
DEVELOPING . . .
So suppose MoDOT did nothing, as you suggest they should have, and one of those aging bridges collapsed.
ReplyDeleteThen what would you be writing?
Then what would you be writing?
ReplyDeleteCollapsed bridge result of long term neglect by city officials. Affordable regular maintenance over the past decades would have prevented deaths.
Glamour and politically motivated projects to blame for inadequate finds since 1960.
Exactly.
ReplyDeleteAnd since Tony is now an expert on how bridge replacement should be planned and timed, perhaps he can share some of that wisdom with us.
We Kansas Citians are so unaccustomed to any sort of infrastructure maintenance or repair that we've forgotten about the inconveniences that accompany these activities. On the bright side, we'll only be inconvenienced for the MoDOT projects since the city never repairs or replaces anything.
ReplyDelete8:41 You sure picked the wrong blog if you expect Tony to think about anything before he posts it. Its so much esasier to clip and paste and add a snarky comment.
ReplyDeleteI come here for the boobies and the snarkz.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen much boobies lately. This blog is going down hill.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? This blog now hosts the biggest boob of all, Craig Glazer.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, did anyone click onto the link about MoDot's "propaganda campaign"?
ReplyDeleteIf not, it's a KC Star "Watchdog" story about how the Kansas Department of Transportation is going to move a warning sign about the construction further south to give drivers a better opportunity to use I-635 as a detour.
And that is only one way to avoid the mess.
MODOT needs to do a much better job of marking closures and identifying detours. This has not been problem in the past, maybe they have a bad contractor this time.
ReplyDeleteMODOT is not replacing the Main Sreet bridge. It is KCMO paying for it. Bridge not strong enough to carry toy train, so Sly found a slush fund to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where there is that many lanes of traffic in KC. ha ha
