TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDER SAYS: HOMEOWNERS SHOULD CONTEST ANY SNOW REMOVAL FINE FROM CITY HALL!!!

Another Kansas City Insider offers a perspective on local snow removal FAIL in the context of threats from City Hall.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS AND LOCAL LEADERS CONTINUE TO PUSH BACK AGAINST THREATS OF SNOW REMOVAL FINES FROM CITY HALL!!!

Check it:

"So the City demands under pain of financial fine that property owners clear their sidewalk by today.

This photo shows that the sidewalk on Cleaver Blvd near Oak is impassable.

This location happens to be a bus stop.

So could the Public Works, Parks or the ATA get out there and clear THEIR damn sidewalk !!!

Any homeowner who gets a $100 fine ought to contest and they can use this photo as evidence of unequal treatment by the City."

  2. Sure, contest the fines...take days off work and spend hours on the cause. Sounds like a valuable use of time.

    ReplyDelete
  3. If you don't have representation, it means you didn't bother voting, dipshit.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Kansas City will use this snow ordinance as a "I run this town, bitch" penalty for property owners they already know can't afford it. It's another way to disenfranchise property owners. This town is so tired!

    ReplyDelete
  5. If they can't afford a snow shovel, they can't afford to be a property owner.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, fucking Paula Bradfield cheapskate!

  7. Obama Is EVIL3/4/13, 3:50 PM

"While we wait for Obamacare [to destroy the rest of the economy] . . . Kansas City is soon to decide on local hobo funding.

    Damn right, Leroy!

  9. "Any homeowner who gets a $100 fine ought to contest and they can use this photo as evidence of unequal treatment by the City."

And get laughed out of court while being ordered to pay the city's attorney fees for filing a frivolous appeal.

Look closely. The snow isn't the problem. The problem is the limb, dummy.

  10. Everybody! Have you heard? If you're in the game, the Stroke's the word!

    Stroke me, stroke me!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wouldn't it take a lot more time to contest the ticket than it would to shovel your damn sidewalk?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Most of these comments are a perfect example of why things are so fucked up in KCMO.

Don't fix it!!! that might take time.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How about: "I won't shovel my walk! I won't! I won't! I won't! And you can't make me!"

    Bunch of spoiled, entitled brats.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Who is the property owner?

    ReplyDelete
  15. 4:09 is exactly right.

It's easier for the City to threaten individual residents with fines and the hassle of court than to teach their snow removal crews how to plow the streets without covering up the sidewalks.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Or to tell residents BEFORE the snow storm to expect enforcement of the sidewalk ordinance.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 4:26- The ordinance applies to the owner OR the occupant.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's also easier to pass ordinances that only apply to private property owners or users, and not the City itself.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 4:26, wrong. The city has no idea who the "occupant" might be. They do have a record of the owner.

By the way, instead of dreaming up all sorts of end-of-civilization scenarios of jackbooted Public Works thugs hauling innocent property owners into court, why don't we see how this plays out?

I asked this morning if Tony could make a phone call or two to determine whether this will be handled on a citizen-complaint basis, or if the city will be sending out swarms of employees with the authority to write tickets to every neighborhood in Kansas City.

Still waiting for the answer. And that is key.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have heard all cities will respond based on phoned in complaints only.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Plus I think the cities need to stay the hell out of sidewalk snow cleaning enforcement. As for sidewalks I feel if the city wants them then they can deal with them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Worst offender: KCMO School District

    ReplyDelete
  23. If you live on a boulevard you're screwed.
Two lanes of snow dumped ON TOP of the snow that's already on "your" sidewalk.
Can't wait for the next mayor election.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 4:57, that was my guess when every story Tony liked to including the Action Center's number.

My guess is that the city put out this presser to encourage the hold-outs to finally get out and shovel their walks, a week after the storm.

In other words, it's kind of like a "no smoking" sign. You don't really need a cop everywhere to enforce them, since people will generally obey the law once they know it.

I am also guessing that today's rather warm weather has rendered the issue pretty much moot.

I'm sure that will disappoint those who wanted to storm City Hall with torches and pitchforks (though not snow shovels), or the mass appeals all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court of thousands of ticketed property owners brandishing pictures of Cleaver II and Brookside Boulevards.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 5:16, if you live on a boulevard, isn't your set back quite a distance from the street?

If not, think about that the next time you choose a place to live on a busy boulevard. You've got a lot bigger problems that occasional snow removal. Such as constant noise.

  26. This whole "unequal treatment by the city" dodge is the same one middle schoolers use when they say, "Everybody else was throwing spitballs, too!"

Next time you get a speeding ticket, tell the judge you aren't going to pay it because the cops didn't catch every speeder in the city.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Now offering leg advice, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Same legal advice as the guy who said that his picture of the sidewalk with a limb on it will get you out of any ticket for failing to remove snow. And worth exactly the same.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also, unless you have an sworn and notarized affidavit from the photographer stating exactly when and where this photo was taken, and swearing to its authenticity (i.e. it hasn't been "photoshopped") then it's useless in court.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ahhhhhhahahahahahaha!!!!! you you think Kansas City ISN'T a shithole cowtown!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a bunch of losers. Snow removal from sidewalks is required in just about every city in America. Kansas City, of course, is a city full of complaining pansies who would rather spend their time pointing fingers at somebody else. This town will always be a loser town because its people have a loser attitude.
Starting with that fat ass tony who's never met a sandwich he didn't like.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Someone needs to fax a list of all the land bank properties to the action center

    ReplyDelete
  33. Come down to River Market. Lots of public owned property with sidewalks uncleared. Guess CID has taken a holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  34. With the high taxes in KCMO, why doesn't the City take over snow removal from all sidewalks. This is done in other cities.

    ReplyDelete
  35. the only people bitching about having to shovel snow from the sidewalks , is the fat lazy male niggers, get off your fucking lazy fat nigger ass and get to work.

    ReplyDelete
  36. look you fat lazy niggers, get to work and clear those sidewalks of the snow that your fat lazy nigger ass has stared at for the last week, and help you fat lazy nigger neighbor to or he will start shooting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Center school today. Drove by it. About 1000' feet of unshoveled sidewalk. WTF? Kids WALK IN THE STREET thanks to the school not doing what the law expects.

I think anyone bitching about shoveling their sidewalk is a lazy ass, but that also includes the schools and public sidewalks too. They all need the same treatment.

    ReplyDelete
  38. people don't use the sidewalks anyway. look at he fella on independence ave

    ReplyDelete
  39. KCMO has lower taxes than JoCo and they don't shovel sidewalks.

Just shovel your fucking sidewalks you worthless sack of shit.

    Quit your bitching.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm in the City Market area. I called the CID office last week and asked them to shovel the public sidewalks in front of my building. They said it wasn't their responsibility.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 10:44 - you are a worthless pos. It's your building. You clean it. Stupid fucker.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Check the bus stops on Truman Rd. Prospect and Truman not yet cleared by COMMERCIAL businesses. 200 block of 39th street is also COMMERCIAL and no attempt has been made.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wonderful town. Can't get folks to snitch off a murderer, but if the corner where they deal drugs is obstructed by snow they will call the freaking FBI.
