TKC NOTE: This morning Craig Glazer provides some behind the scenes insight into his working relationship and friendship with TV Icon Jimmy Walker.
Good Times, Bad Times, Our Times
Without question, one of the biggest names in both comedy and television sitcom history is Jimmy Walker. Both he and his catchphrase, ‘Dynomite’ are ranked in the top 25 by People Magazine. Jimmy’s hit TV show aired in 1974 and ran through 1979 on CBS. Norman Lear produced the show, one of his many hits of that era. Lear was one of the first big-time network executives who purposefully produced politically incorrect TV series like ‘Good Times’ and ‘All in the Family’.
As a matter of fact the other TV sitcom that was a smash hit in that same era was ‘Sanford and Son’ starring Redd Foxx.
I am often asked why we named our original restaurant and comedy club in Westport; which opened in 1975; Stanford and Sons. Yes, it was a play on the show ‘Sanford and Son’ and the reason it worked for us, was that my father, Stanford Glazer was one of the owners, while my brother and I were the other owners.
This week, including two shows Thursday and through Sunday you are welcome to come and see Jimmy ‘JJ’ ‘Kid Dynomite!’ Walker at Stanford & Sons Comedy Club here at the Legends Shopping Center.
To say Walker has done it all; starting with stand-up comedy with a Black Panther group on the East Coast, to his ground-breaking performance on The Jack Parr Show which led to his getting the series ‘Good Times’ along with Janet Jackson and John Amos. As the series came to an end Jimmy, then in his twenties, went on to co-star in a boatload of films; everything from ‘Airplane’ to ‘Home Alone 2’. Walker made an even bigger splash as a re-occurring co-star on TV series like ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Everybody hates Chris’. Jimmy’s first love is stand-up comedy which he has never stopped doing. He has been a regular on late night talk shows like ‘Letterman’ and was even a weekly panelist on the ABC Bill Maher TV show.
Yup, Jimmy’s done it all, so many credits and stories you could write a book about it. In fact, he just did; ‘Dynomite! Good Times, Bad Times…Our Times’, with co-writer Sal Manna. If the name Sal Manna sounds familiar, it should; he co-wrote my book, ‘The King of Sting’. Yes, Walker and I have a long, long history together. Fortunately, I have developed many close friends in my now thirty years in comedy and entertainment. From Old School stars like David Brennan, Dave Coulier and Michael Winslow to newer stars like TJ Miller, Daniel Tosh, Larry the Cable Guy and Lewis Black. I would have to say my closest personal friend in that time has to be Jimmy Walker. In fact Walker thanked only 8 people in his book David Brenner a handful of others and Craig Glazer.
We met in the early ‘90’s and became fast pals. One reason for the friendship, we hung out in both the cities he calls home today; Los Angeles and Las Vegas. We just got a big kick out of each other swapping tales over the years. We’ve done Thanksgiving dinner together in KC, I’ve booked him in some big rooms in Las Vegas and attended those shows, we had a famous run-in on Channel 4 in the nineties that led to a front page article in the KC Star and a feature on Hard Copy and Jimmy even marshaled the troops in my defense during my 2001 indictment.
One of the nicest things Jimmy ever did was to fly into Kansas City to be the keynote speaker when my dad ran for mayor and got nominated. Simply put, Jimmy is a great guy and has been a good friend for nearly twenty years.
One of Walker’s other best friends is David Brenner. What they have in common is they are both walking, talking comedy encyclopedias. Jimmy still has that Tonight Show stand-up, PG-style comedy which is still very effective with audiences today.
If you want to see one of the most important comedy entertainers of our time, come see Jimmy ‘Kid Dynomite’ Walker at Stanford’s this week.

Hurl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBecause you are a tool, a fool, and a criminal.
ReplyDeleteGO AWAY !
ReplyDeleteGET YOUR OWN FUCKING BLOG.
ReplyDeleteBlack nobodys make the front page of the Star almost everyday so what.
ReplyDeleteI have never met Craig Glazer, nor do I know much about him, other than what I've read here on TKC. I do vaguely remember his criminal case from media
ReplyDeletereports. I'm beginning to like this guy, if for no other reason than his ability to piss people off.
Has anyone besides me notice how Glazer brags of all theses people being his friends like Lewis Black Larry the Cable Rednec Bitch but these so called close friends never do Stans club anymore. Oh Glazer will say they are too big of stars now but real friends help friends. Walker washed up many years ago but least he was famous for 5 years till CBS canceled the POS show he was on. The show sucked so bad John Amos another black bailed ship on it because of Walker being so stupid. Esther Rolle as well another fine actress had issues with Walker. Yup Glazer rolls on in life surrounded by losers nothing new here move along folks once again nothing to see.
ReplyDelete*
ReplyDeleteI'm devastated by your insult. Me? Blow some random guy witha hairy back?
DeleteEw!
Spyke1 damn you must have even worse loser friends than Glazer. To like someone because they can piss people off. Now that says class!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'll do my best and try to be at least as classy as you.
DeleteLooks like a great candidate for the 5th Council district if Kenny B gets indicted before the primary.
ReplyDeleteDid Clint Eastwood really say this about Glazer when asked what he thought of Glazer doing drugs to look and act like he is younger and running around with just barely legal hooker types
ReplyDeleteYou know when you're young and you see a play in high school, and the guys all have gray in their hair and they're trying to be old men and they have no idea what that's like? It's just that stupid the other way around.
Clint Eastwood
JJ Walker is the worst kind of has-been who has tried to live off his two minutes of fame decades ago.
ReplyDeleteHe is now a DJ in some dump city in Nebraska. He tried to charge radio guys so he would say "DynOMite."
He is a pathetic loser. He made the front page in KC for walking into Fox 4 and they thought he was just some street thug. That's how big a star he is.
Glazer Who?
ReplyDeleteSeems this is another post from Hearne's site. Meh
ReplyDeleteOnce again very interesting celeb story Craig. I'm sure you have many more coming. Enjoy them. Most people do. Hard to believe that some jealous people can even find fault with a warm story about someone so famous in the industry as JJ that they still want to write hate. Guess that's the world we live in today Craig. Most readers I'm sure have fun with these articles. I do.
ReplyDeleteWas that DAREEN STEVENS, the original MAD MAN?!
DeleteYep. Walker from an old story. Huh, but he is at the comedy club this week? Someone on here said Glazer and Lewis Black aren't friends? Why is Black quoted on the back cover of his book KING OF STING? I read it and own it, fast paced well written book.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Walker?
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a scotch?
I guess we are going to be treated every week to Glazer begging people to come to his comedy club to see the next has-been who once had a sit-com decades ago, and is now hanging on through the small comedy club circuit.
ReplyDeleteTicket sales must not be going so well, although once again, Glazer will brag about every show selling out and turning away another 100 people at the door.
And 8:00, you are entirely correct about John Amos and Esther Rolle becoming increasingly disturbed about the way the "JJ" character had developed into a new Stepin Fetchit, and Amos quit the show in protest.
But I guess those checks cashed nicely for Walker. Anybody care to set the over/under on how many times "JJ" says "Dyn-O-Mite!" during his routine?
Isn't this just another "NIGGERS are wonderful" story? I'm sick and tired of praising and saluting NIGGERS just cause they want to be. Fuck the whole lot of NIGGERS!!
ReplyDelete8:41 and 8:43 is Glazer, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI came, my eyes "Glazed over" I left.
ReplyDelete8:43 hey Glazer yes we know it is you wrpye it nobody posted anything saying you wasn't friends so stop twisting facts as you do in your boring stories.
ReplyDeleteGlazer likes that dy-no-mite right up his chute.
ReplyDeleteOr does Glazer now have a really dark tan.
ReplyDeleteI suppose that calling Walker "one of the most important comedy entertainers of our time" isn't quite as dumb as calling David Coulier a "TV legend" and an "icon."
ReplyDeleteBut it's pretty close.
Glazer so liked to brag about his Hollywood connections while in jail. So to make him feel right at home every night they let him play the Ned Beatty role from Deliverance. Soo-weee
ReplyDelete@8:48
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO
"Jimmy still has that Tonight Show stand-up, PG-style comedy which is still very effective with audiences today."
ReplyDeleteTranslation: Walker hasn't come up with new material in decades.
TL:DR
ReplyDeleteBoring drivel from a spoiled kid who cashed in on his dad's hard work.
Glazer you dickweed if you're going to do stories then get your fucking facts straight. Now far as I am concerned this whole story has no supporting facts other than Walker is his last name.
ReplyDelete"As the series came to an end Jimmy, then in his twenties"
Fact is he was in his thirties when the show ended. He was fucking 27 when the show started and some had issues with someone his age playing a teenager. He was 32 when the show ended.
"to his ground-breaking performance on The Jack Parr Show"
What fucking show you talking about here dickweed? Jack Parr didn't have a show after 1965. He was on several shows in 1973 and co-hosted a show but didn't have his own show under his own name.
This is as bad as one of those Jenee columms n The Star where shes ADVERTISING for one of her NEGRO buddies and tries to pass it off as a LEGITIMATE COLUMN! Hey, I think I hear an AMBOOLANTZ SIREN in th distance! That sheister LAWYER that T lets advertise in the news content section better start lacing up those KEDS!
ReplyDeleteGuess what Glazer and I agree ya dickweed your has been friend was on TV before any Parr show possible mention. But I doubt you're smart enough to know what that was. Lear was looking for a dumb ugly looking black man and your buddy was spotted end of story.
ReplyDeletekind of sad really.
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed Good Times and reading this article. Thanks Tony for sharing. I have fond memories of James Evans Jr (J.J.) and Good Times. Funny, I was watching it the other day; have the full box set of most of the series. Good Times was ground breaking. Watch one episode and you'll see the Black experience really hasn't changed much at all. Norman Lear was a genius!
ReplyDeleteSnitchy wrote the exact same article on Hearne's site about a year ago. We have all been regaled of the tales of the comedy legend who was on a spin off television show for 4 years ending 33 years ago.
ReplyDeleteGround Breaking? "Not hardly!"
ReplyDeleteBlack experience really hasn't changed. "Yup thats the Blacks for you, lazy and worthless people who won't change want the white man to do it all for them."
Funny, I was watching it the other day; "Such a sad sad life you must have."
Glazer makes my flatulence smell like honeysuckle when he attempts to write.
ReplyDeleteGlazer makes my flatulence smell like honeysuckle when he attempts to write.
ReplyDeleteLeast Walker is only black man I know of who claims to not have voted for Obama.
ReplyDeleteBut then he might very well be a liar as most are. Isn't that right Rev Brooks?
Maybe he should have worked in a stop by for the POSSE bunch but wait I bet Jimmy don't have time for any poor black people.
Still remember Hearne and some making a big deal because a security guard gave Walker and another ass clown some shit because they was all hooded up walking around in the channel 4 station before a show. Typical star bullshit by stars who don't think they have to follow the rules or can do as they please. Then make a race issue of it. Fuck Walker!
racist
ReplyDeleteI hope he showed Jimmy his secret gold badge thingy before all the lovin' started.
ReplyDeleteIt is so entertaining to read from a bunch of nobodies who hate themselves more than life itself. Jimmy Walker is my friend, an Icon, has been in far too many shows from even the Dean Martin Roasts, hosting every major award show known to man to well we don't have to go over it again and again. If you heard him on Dare this morning talking about his life with Richard Pryor, Travola and Freddie Prince...that was enough to entertain and educate the masses for weeks, Dare had him stay on 30 extra minutes to talk about his life and stories in his new book....Dare rarely does that unless its killer, he did today...Walker is a walking, talking legend of entertainment, few are bigger or have done more, very few...a fact. So continue to show your ignorance to anyone who reads these comments.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy world we live in to see so many people who are so lost in hate and disgust for themselves. Jimmy Walker and Craig Glazer have done nothing to them at all. To put down a star of Walker's size is so damn stupid makes you just wonder what makes these people happy. I'd say not much.
My advice, get some help. Try and do something with whats left of your failed life, or failed to this point. My God...good luck.
Suck a big one Mr. Criminal, then take a one-way trip to Somalia and take your has-been negro with you.
ReplyDeleteOh please stop with the stupidity Glazer your boy ain't so GD special.
ReplyDeleteAnd folks notice how he ignored that other facts brought up about his story that don't add up.
So Dare asked him to stay oh wow bet that was a once in a lifetime joy for Walker. What Dare having a slow morning?
Heard Kennedy's and Nycki's dog along with the rest of us don't care for you either, why he growl's at you.
Smart dog knows a loser when he see's one.
Nice projection, "CG", or whoever does your writing for you. But I say an old guy who fills himself up with "fountain of youth" drugs so much that he has to take more drugs to counteract the drugs has got far more self-image problems than anyone you are whining about. Not to mention the money you spend on hair transplants and replacements.
ReplyDeleteGo look at your buddy, "JJ." He's a 65-year old guy still trading off the brief fame he got playing a buffoon nearly 40 years ago. And that is truly pathetic.
Incidentally, less than a year after his wonderful book was written, it's selling new on Amazon for as little as $1.48, which means that someone has a warehouse full of them that they are trying to unload.
Oh, and if you don't care to spend that much, you can get a used copy for as little as $0.01. Plus shipping and handling, which probably makes the book more than it is worth reading.
"TV Icon"
ReplyDeleteBwaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteNext Story From The Secret Agent Man With The Golden Badge:
My TV Icon Friends At Hamburger Mary's: How They Taught Me To Bite The Pillow With Panache
The only "good times" here, would be if all the NIGGERS were gone, gone for good.
ReplyDeleteI guess Tony allows comments using any language or made up b.s...by you guys. Tony is sure open minded. Yeah all you do is prove my point as to your ignorance. Using the N word doesn't make you tough or smart, just the nobodies I was talking about..unhappy with your own life.
ReplyDeleteMister Walker has had a great life and career, few have been his equal on that note. As for Dare, he let JJ go over 30 minutes when the show was to go off at 10 AM, he rarely does that unless the guest is of 'way' interest. Walker was...we had several nice calls to the club about his radio show this morning and how great he was with his stories.
Maybe if a few of you would just watch, learn and listen...you might learn something...again I realize some of these hateful comments are the same couple people over and over and over...so have at it.."the dogs bark and the caravan moves on..."
PS all books on amazon that are used are cheap moron. How many have you written and sold? None right. Please. Get a life, huh.

like farts in the alley
No, Glaze. Walker's book is selling NEW for $1.48. I'd tell you to look it up for yourself, but somebody that reading challenged probably doesn't know what "google" is either.
ReplyDeleteAnd how could you possibly know how many books I have written or sold?
Oh, and my life is also just fine. Between the two of us only one dyes our transplanted hair and takes mouthfulls of pills and shots trying to keep up the illusion of youth long past, and failing miserably at it.
In other words, I'm not at all unhappy to own the life that I have, rather than trying so hard to pretend to be something I am not.
By the way, I'm sure that Walker was the most interesting guest Dare has had for quite some time, but that is a mighty low bar to hurdle.
ReplyDeleteHey, Glazer, how many books have you and Walker written?
ReplyDeleteThe answer? None.
You both had the same ghost-writer.
Hey Glazer welcome to free speech not like it is over at KCC where Hearne use to protect you and you could delete as you wish so anyone too negative towards you got the boot and banned.
ReplyDeleteSo welcome to reality ya dickwwed. Where if the truth is too much to deal with just go away. If not then grin and bare like the rest of us do. For someone who acts like a real badass you sure do whine like a little bitch.
You can't tell Glazer anything remember we is all dumb and he is the coolest, smartest guy around I mean had to be some reason he went to jail.
ReplyDeleteCould be STUPIDITY?
Finally you get it...yes!!!!! Correct you haters are stupid correct...the readers are fine. Not you. But hey I will forgive you all...just guy my movies, book and the like we will all be one happy family...bye.

ReplyDeleteSpecial News Bulletin:
No-one Cares
They should drive Jimmie around the 64130 zip code so he can advise everybody there how he survived living in the Chicago hood with the front door unlocked in his apartment.
ReplyDeleteCraig kicks the ass of his haters in so many ways. While he is busy being succeesful and hanging with top comedians, the haters are just stuck and hating themselves.
ReplyDeleteGet a grip. Craig has a better life than you and you hate him for it.
There was the one time Jimmy and I had a homosexual in counter after a show back in 93' that's a story for another day my friends.
ReplyDeleteI agree Craig Glazer has had a most interesting life. He still does. The mean comments come from those who envy the man, that's all. Understood.
ReplyDeleteI will tease you jerks with this bit of a preview of my time with Jimmy.
ReplyDeleteNo Jimmy hat.
I was bottom.
I got a dirty Sanchez at the end of it.
Dy-No-MITE!
Glazer = comment whore
ReplyDeleteJimmy was back in a time when niggers were funny and not homicidal.
ReplyDeleteGlazer, you liar, you didn't book Walker or anyone else into any big name casino.
ReplyDeleteBut let's hear the rest of the fantasy.... Which big casino, and who did you work for? The casino? Walker?
I think Walker would drop you like a hot lotus kit-car exhaust manifold if he knew that a known association with you would damage his popularity here in your home town, where you are as popular as the ridiculous fictional so-called "biography" that you paid to have written. Last time I checked, kink of stink was about 500,000 books beneath the top of the Amazon list, and just south of "wendy; the biography of a mistreated mutt who escaped from the sordid glazer doggie den".
The only explanation I have of why such a notorious drug addict has not been arrested again is that he is of the type that tends to give helpful information in exchange for his freedom.
ReplyDeleteThat's what he did a decade ago. That's what he did in the 70s when he was a paid snitch.
psssst...booked several shows in Vegas, there all the time...pssst...the only snitch's I knew outside of the ones in prison....were little punks like you...that worked for cops/agents like me...pssst...to prove it come say that to me you little punk and all the punks you run with like Danny,Tom B...on and on...all little blown out losers like you...look in the mirror, what do you see punk coward...a little nothing....easy to write on these websites as a nobody coward with no identity and attack real men like me...but such is the net...what a shame...the only snitches on here are YOU.
ReplyDeleteBullshit is as bullshit does. It really gets sad when sub average man thinks he is smart man.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Glaze, just to start with, you claim your tax position is better by leasing the Lotus. Only if you use it for business and keep very good records of the business mileage. Doubt you do and I have kept your rants on said subject. I get bored or you piss me off enough, straight to the IRS with your bullshit.
I have a long list of bullshit you post. Keep posting bullshit and I will continue to hack it to pieces.
Before you go into some rage, believe me what I say about your car, not the guy who put you into it. The IRS will come down on you unless you have only written off business miles that you documented.
Stay tuned, you keep posting bullshit, I point out lies and even crimes you are currently committing.
Tony stick to outrage against the system. It runs from city hall to the top but focusing on the city hall small time flimflam is where it starts to make a change. That's why I like your blog. Inviting super small time flimflam man to get hits does your rep harm and cred harm to take on the toy train, the $15,000 and the rest of silly nonsense that goes on.
BTW, how does somebody work both sides of fence in drug dealing and can say he is not snitch? See I will snitch you out to the IRS when it suits me. We don't do business, you just put it out there. A snitch is someone who gets in bed with the cops and robbers and plays both sides. Lucky you didn't get to do anytime in a real lock up and your major crime was really just being stupid.
ReplyDeleteKink of Stink, fictional stories of a sad sack of shit. Glazed doughnut boy seems to believe all this bullshit. Actually he's one sick pup and he'll never get well. He.lives in a small world inside his big water head.
ReplyDelete"Danny, Tom B, on and on" .... Glazer, keep jumping through hoops trying to figure who the people are who know you from your past and therefore know just what a jack-in-your-own-crack liar you are... It's funny to watch you miss the mark by the hyperbolic distance between here and the edge of the universe, Mr. Einstein of Slime...
ReplyDeleteWhen we are asked to name some important people who are worthy of admiration, most of us pick from a list of great inventors like Edison, statesmen like Lincoln, dastardly deadly bastards such as Hitler, great fine artists such as Michalangelo, religious icons such as Moses, Allah, Jesus, Budda, or Mother Teresa, life savers such as Salk, profound fiction writers such as Harper Lee, the moonwalkers, Chuck Yeager, other space pioneers, innovative musicians such as John Cage or Bach, and perhaps even controversial drug users and researchers such as Leary.
So who does Glaze nominate to sit proudly in front of this class, teaching them how to be even more important societal icons than they already are, and perhaps ascend to where the air is as rarified as at the top of Everest, where he often sits alone at the top, except for an occasional visit from the one and only himself, the humble and talented glaze...?.....???
JJ DYNAMITE WALKER !!!!!!!!!
Glazer, you really and truly are a sick, twisted loser, who has done nothing to advance the human race. I really believe you aren't just putting us on with your somewhat amusing rants and bizarre slants; you actually believe most of what you write, even when you write out-and-out crap, which is whenever you write without a ghost...
I also believe you think the majority of women you encounter find you to be attractive, and will drop their drawers because you rent a sports car, wear a wig like the other sissy-pussy type latent homos who aren't willing to accept that balding is a natural, evolved MALE characteristic, brag about hookers you've hustled, and anointed yourself Chief - King -and - World's - Foremost - Authority on every subject you wish you had mastered past the bare rudiments, which is all you ever learn before losing patience.
At most you have learned a little about running a comedy club, which is a modest accomplishment, but at least is a step-up from armed robbery, money laundering, and drug dealing, which are your true-life occupations, and which you actually brag about, and which so heavily impressed your siblings, and which still impresses your remaining sibling who followed you to jail... and who, just last week, jumped at the chance to be an accessory to a violent battery of some stranger whom you only know by the aka "smartman" ...
Why don't you take your modest knowledge of comedy and try to build upon it? Stop wasting your time trying to impress idiots and focus your modest intellectual gift on developing something groundbreaking in the comedy business! Chances are you'll strike-out, but at least you'll have tried, and for the first time in fifty years, you'll have something real to be proud of.
2:46 a really great comment and very on the mark about Glazer.
ReplyDeleteJust too bad in a minute he will be along calling you a loser and hater.
But Glazer is right he is God's gift to women. I mean all women need someone to take out the trash take care of the yard and clean up the dog and cat shit while they go out on a date with a real man or guys like Tony B.
As Kathy Griffin has even said Glazer! "You mean that asshole from Kansas City who had to go crawling back home after we kicked his ass out of Hollywood?" She has an Emmy, Glazer has............well nothing but fake hair. Oh I'm sorry he has a book someone else wrote which as we speak is being sold new on Amazon for as low as $1.05.
Yes Glazer a real man who in his so called great book about his life trashes his own father as well. Bitches because Stan wouldn't give him more money as a kid so he could buy more drugs when in college.
Glazer whose wife left him after finding out what a loser he really was no matter what he tells you. He lied to her, hid things from her and she feared for her life and could no longer trust him.
Yup a real man who makes people wish he went back or returned to where ever long as it wasn't around here and we didn't have to see or hear anything about him. But deep down you know that where ever that is or might be in due time they won't want Glazer around either.
With those long words of junk punk wisdom we will close this one out...thank you and good bye.
ReplyDeleteKathy Griffin knows him. Cool
ReplyDelete
