A bit of Dead Tree Media review is in order because there's an important tidbit in an otherwise overlooked writing from Star columnist Barb Shelly.
Check it . . .
DEAD TREE MEDIA COLUMNIST BARB SHELLY PRETTY MUCH INSULTS MOST LADY POLITICOS IN KANSAS CITY FOR THEIR LACK OF LEADERSHIP!!!
The column attempted to do a bit of local politico ranking because Barb obviously reads this blog . . .
But here's her money quote:
"Missing in Action
"Women political leaders. Where have they gone? Not long ago, women wielded clout as mayors of the region’s largest cities and as top leaders of Jackson and Johnson counties. Now, with the exceptions of Jean Peters Baker as Jackson County prosecutor and Pam Mason as Clay County presiding commissioner, they are hard to find in top roles. One bright spot: Jolie Justus of Kansas City will be influential in Jefferson City as the Senate minority leader."

We don't disagree with this quote at all.
But Barb Shelly overlooks some rather powerful local ladies.
We didn't see . . .
MAYOR PRO TEM Cindy Circo
Sen. Kiki Curls
Jackson County Legislator Theresa Garza Ruiz
Jackson County Legislator and Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus Leader Crystal Williams.
KC Council Lady Melba Curls
KC Council Lady Jan Marcason
In other words . . .
THE QUOTE IS NOTHING LESS THAN A SLAP IN THE FACE TO KANSAS CITY'S TOP FEMALE POWER BROKERS!!!
Again, we don't disagree with the sentiment and it clearly resonated with a few readers who wanted to point out the diss and growing division among the "girl power" set in Kansas City.
What does Jolie think of unsolicited bulk email?
ReplyDeleteand what is a Kiki?
ReplyDeleteI still run this town!
ReplyDeleteI still take bribes to endorse candidates Barb!
ReplyDeleteWho is we, Tony?

ReplyDeleteWhats the difference?
A Kiki is what I will do to you or for you if you have the right amount of cash to give me.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with local girl power is they can't keep their act focused on politics and they all fighting to be number one and we see that so we view it all as a bunch of carpet munchers all trying to get the most attention.
ReplyDeleteIn short wanna be a politican then act like one and work for the people or get back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich.
I am always pleased to see Jolie Justus holding public meetings in her old district, even though she is not required to do so. It is a good thing. She meets with whomever shows up at Aixois nearly every Friday.
ReplyDeleteOur new state senator Jason Holsman, has not done anything like that. He seems focused on Jeff City. He does not seem to like people. Why wouldn't he do what Jolie does?
ReplyDeleteWe'll collectively punish Barb by forcing her to have a weeks worth of lunches at the steaming tuna taco bar.
Then she'll publicly perform:
A Circo-Jerk
The uncurling of a Kiki
A hail Saint Theresa all over the holey relics of Garza Ruiz
Snort the piles of Crystal Williams
Get toasted on some Melba Curls
Januflect for Jan Marcason

ReplyDeleteI got my Barb Smelly a few times in the past.
I use condoms now.
Love this fucking blog. Reminds me how shitty KC really is!

ReplyDeleteShe's not paper trained...
...she's what the paper-trained leave on the paper.
Women's suffrage is difficult enough without having losers like Barb comment about the obvious. She's so yesterday. When is she going to purchase a new wig? That's the better topic.
ReplyDeleteKiki & Melba Curls? Power brokers of what? One can can barely formulate a decent thought and the other well... Where has she been?
ReplyDeleteLife is so much better with the women in charge. Wait, hiring a person based on sex would be sexist and a lawsuit waiting to happen, right?
ReplyDeleteTony, those girls are irrelevant. The state is run by Republicans and all KC's women are Democrats. They can beat their breasts all they want about girl power, but they have none.
