Great! What are they planning on doing, riding five to a truck? Cut the KCFD!!!
ReplyDeleteKCFD = Overstaffed and overpaid!
ReplyDeleteKANSAS CITY STAR
ReplyDeleteAUGUST 24, 2011 ET
Last month, the city agreed to provide raises to fire fighters that will average 15 and 16 percent.
Fire fighters at the top of their pay scale will get 8 percent raises, and newer fire fighters will get close to 30 percent, said Mark Thoma-Perry, the city’s acting budget officer. The raises were part of a three-year wage contract between the city and the fire union. They include two step increases and three cost-of-living increases.
Kansas City, has seen a drop in actual fires extinguished, from 6,797 in 2002 to 2,582 in 2011.
ReplyDeleteReducing the number of firefighters on KCFD trucks would bring the department in line with the national average of three on a rig, according to information from the International City-County Management Association.
ReplyDeleteOver the past 35 years, the number of fires in the United States has fallen by more than 40% while the number of career firefighters has increased by more than 40%. CUT KCFD!
ReplyDeleteThe International city/county management association recommends one firefighter per 1,000 people in population. KC population 445,000. Number of firefighters needed by KCFD 445! They are overstaffed!!!
ReplyDeleteSince you've posted like 4 comments its obvious you hate the fire department. However you numbers are complete garbage. How many cities follow your 1 FF per 1000 people? Not many. Because in a city like ours its not possible to adequately cover the city with such low man power and be effective. If you'd like the fire department to sit outside, Watch your house burn to the foundation and not save your family like most fire departments around the metro then by all means tell you elected officials.
DeleteKCFD current staffing is 1340. According to the recommendation of the International City/County Management Association they should have a staff of 445. Cut the KCFD!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, u wont get hired unless your black.
ReplyDeleteFire doesn't save a whole lot of families. Mostly just putting out vacant house fires and using Local 42 to get out of DUIs and dirty piss tests.
ReplyDeletei admit. I love toking it up right before a hot call. Its even funner to slide down the pole high.
ReplyDeleteKCFD is the last standing Mafia in this town, Look how many Italians are on the KCFD payroll!!! And then look at how their motives selling BULLSHIT to the tax payers have paid off for them...FUCK YOU KCFD!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would dig my own 6 foot hole in the desert just to get away from your immoral money motivated shit...thanks too you my grandma died because it took you so long too show up...she was all I had for family, you fuck monkeys have families but you dont appreciate them ask whats her name!!
^^^^^ perfect example why we should cut KCFD from 1300 employees to 435. Think they would make it to any of your grandmas in time to help with only 33% labor force? Remember, Cutting KCFD means cutting paramedics also
Delete1) “How many cities follow your 1 FF per 1000 people?” - Acutally the majority of fire departments have 3 firefighters per apparatus. So you obviously don’t know what you are talking about.
ReplyDelete2) “Because in a city like ours its not possible to adequately cover the city with such low man power and be effective”. – Again, you don’t know what you are talking about. The majority of fire departments around the country do it every day. If KCFD can’t it is only because they are mismanaged.
3) “If you'd like the fire department to sit outside, Watch your house burn to the foundation and not save your family like most fire departments around the metro then by all means tell you elected officials.” – Typical Local 42 behavior! Rather than own up to the problem and admit that fire service could be provided with fewer firefighters, and thus, fewer union members, you resort to empty threats. But I’ll play along by giving a few examples of the stellar performance of KCFD/Local 42 in the last year or so. When you suggested that other fire departments around the metro sit outside and watch a house burn to the ground while the family inside dies, perhaps you forgot that KCFD/Local 42 did exactly that during a that tragically cost three people (members of the Greve/Runnels family) their lives. Need another example of the long line of epic failures by KCFD/Local 42? Perhaps we should discuss the Westport Presbyterian Church, which was only three blocks from a fire house, yet KCFD/Local 42 failed to save this historic landmark. Do you need more examples of the failures of KCFD/Local 42? The list goes on and on. The fact is that even as grossly overstaffed as KCFD is, you still don’t have a track record of success when it comes to fighting fires.
Local 42 uses scare tacgtics. Must mean they do not have the hard data from TIS city to support their overstaffing issue. Lasgt job grab was MAST, what now? Taking over some water department jobs because they use the hydrants?
ReplyDeleteHey, you same 2 idiots that keep posting this shit on here, get a fucking life. You were to fat to get a job and now you are mad. You don't have the balls to do a firefighters job. So, go fuck yourself while you sit in your cubicle and sell magazines.
ReplyDelete3:08 = Local 42 when they run out of reasonable arguments to support their position.
ReplyDeleteYour taxes arent going down so either shut the fuck up or kill yourself. End of story.
ReplyDelete5:26= that fat guy in the cubicle selling magazines.
ReplyDeleteI think kcfd is full of fat fucks......that are too fucking stupid to get a job that requires a person to actually have a brain......so shut the fuck up.....btw.....i'm not a fat magazine salesman.....i'm a slim professional
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there were so many city administrators looking for jobs in KC
ReplyDeleteThis site sure makes Kansas City look like a bunch of whiny pieces of shit
ReplyDeleteThe fire department responds to all car accidents and medical calls too so the decrease in number of fires over the years compared to number of firefighters is irrelevant
