TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY BUDGET SHORTFALL ALREADY TOTALS $20 MILLION AS CITY HALL WORRIES ABOUT FINANCES FOR 2013!!!

Kansas City is running short of cash.
Among insiders and anybody who has bothered to look . . .
CITY HALL IS WORRIED ABOUT THE UPCOMING BUDGET BATTLE FOR 2013 GIVEN THAT KANSAS CITY IS ALREADY SHORT MORE THAN $20 MILLION AND GOING DEEPER INTO DEBT EVERY DAY!!!
Yes, it gets worse . . .
BY THE TIME THAT BUDGET TALKS START WE COULD BE DEALING WITH CITY HALL BEGINNING THE DISCUSSION WHILE $30 MILLION IN THE HOLE!!!
Sorry, the Downtown Renaissance still hasn't produced the desired results and revenue that everybody was expecting as we prepare to double down.
Also, it sure would be nice if we could add that missing $15K into the mix.
Insiders @ City Hall are ready for a fierce discussion over spending priorities as money becomes tighter and the demand for city services to fill in federal gaps and mandates is only increasing.

Already we've warned that Mayor Sly plans to raise taxes yet again next year and I'm still not convinced that this town is so in love with his beautiful smile that they'll hand over the cash with no questions asked.
Nevertheless . . . As we contemplate the year ahead lets not forget that this year's spending spree from Mayor Sly and Council has local government running low on money and running up even more debt.
DEVELOPING . . .
The Justin Bieber concert didn't cover it?
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame.
Nothing a 200 million train can't fix.
ReplyDeleteGive-it-away Kay's legacy.
ReplyDeleteShe always said people who questioned her actions just don't get it.
Well. we're getting it now. With interest.
Blaming it on Kay? Nice try Sly. Too bad we know your record and you have not been smart with the money.
ReplyDeleteHence,15k to p.o.s.s.e. and ossco bolton. There not smart withthe money is a gross understatment.
ReplyDeleteFunk wins.
ReplyDeleteAt least Funk recognized that there was a problem. These grifters refuse.
ReplyDeleteHonest Politicians
ReplyDeleteFunk was a mess, kay loved credit and Sly is a crook. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteThe Funk continues to be a mess, Kay was just a shopper and Sly is way out of his league. Sly can't buy his way out of the mess and pushing around council is getting REAL OLD.
ReplyDeleteRubber, meet the road. Get out of the way Sly. Your time is up.
And the PD and FD are getting raises
ReplyDeleteNo they're not. And the PD and FD should get raises and no layoffs. They shouldnt be penalized just because the city spends money like crazy.
DeleteWhere's all the all-star cash?
It gets worse TKC. If you only knew how much worse it gets the closer you get to the top.
ReplyDeleteMore assistant managers
ReplyDeleteDoes the 20 million figure reflect the missing 15K....har har har
ReplyDeleteSuspend payment of development and entertainment subsidies.
ReplyDeleteSuspend the City Council and have the State takeover the municipality. We'll have County policing neighborhoods and State Hwy Patrols on the interstate full time. There... no more City shortfall.
ReplyDeleteNew high paying positions in city hall to deal with the violent crime surge which began in 2008. Tracie needs help I guess.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sly will have to get around to making the long overdue cuts at the fire dept.
ReplyDeleteBut hey once the choo choo train is bulit money will come rolling in again.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, layoffs based on the "buddy" system. Business as always
ReplyDeleteHere we go, Parks got a $3M tax increase, Public Works got a $10M tax increase, and you have $8M to operate the streetcar... cut all three and budget balanced. Even a surplus!!
ReplyDelete7:29, Parks got their sales tax increase but got cut out of the general fund. Public Works got nowhere near $10 m. Your numbers are way off.
