KANSAS CITY'S STRONGEST THIS YEAR!!! TKC POWER RANKINGS FOR 2012!!!

If Candice Swanepoel represents workout perfection for the greater good of lingerie glory . . . Accordingly . . .

CHECK OUT THE TKC OFFICIAL POWER RANKINGS FOR 2012!!!

Now, there might be some names that didn't rank and for that we apologize . . . Admittedly and with no malice we realize that there are folks who we really admire who aren't on this list but in the final analysis . . .

FOR THE YEAR OF 2012 . . . THESE ARE KANSAS CITY'S MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE AND TRENDS!!!

Check it:

POLITICOS

JASON KANDER

Jason Kander is Kansas City's most beloved elected official and this town's favorite son. Missouri Secretary Of State-Elect won a close race but overcame overwhelming GOP odds thanks to so much love sent his way along with an expert political strategy that spoke to the better angels of this State.

MAYOR SLY JAMES

Mayor Sly is the King Of Kansas City. He raised taxes at least three times this year with a smile and very little explanation. His re-election is almost assured and that's a very powerful position.

MIKE TALBOY

Behind the scenes, this Kansas City Democratic Party leader and now corporate power broker helped to determine nearly every primary election and now works to steer corporate money that controls local politics.

CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER

His connections go all the way to the White House and nobody in this town speaks with more gravitas than Kansas City's Congressman Cleaver.

COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON

The architect of the Toy Train is the strongest municipal voice of Kansas City's long suffering Northland.

STATE SENATOR VICTOR CALLAHAN

Eastern Jack doesn't have a stronger advocate than Victor Callahan. Only the very brave have taken on this power broker and survived the political fallout. Even better, this town spent most of the year wondering about his next move . . . And when Mr. Callahan finally announces what it is he'll do with his HUGE bankroll and formidable political skill . . . All of the metro will take notice.

JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS

The County Executive now leads the Missouri Democratic Party and has survived more than a bit of criticism that might prove stronger than the so-called "curse of three terms" which now confronts him.

NEWSIES

JOHN LANDSBERG

Kansas City's media referee and this town's GOLD STANDARD when it comes to reporting media news.

HEY CAMERAMAN

A digital news gathering resource for all of Kansas City and one of the most knowledgeable people TKC knows.

KRIS KETZ

Your friend on Twitter and mine . . . Also, living proof that nice guys finish first.

CHRISTA DUBILL

One of the strongest local ladies in TV news. Ms. Dubill combines a great deal of expertise as an anchor with a zeal for community journalism.

IVAN FOLEY

Without question, the strongest force for journalism in Kansas City's Northland. Most news stories usually start, in some way, with Mr. Foley and his community news investigation.

NORTHEAST NEWS

Our favorite community paper that provides the pulse of Kansas City's most diverse neighborhood.

MARK ALFORD

Mark Alford is the The Mayor of Knobtown. One of our brightest morning anchors and a KC media survivor in every sense of the word.

DEANN SMITH

Now behind the scenes, digital content editor DeAnn makes the news interesting and has the investigative chops to bring life and vital information to any TV news story she touches.

MIKE MAHONEY

Nothing less than A Kansas City News Legend. No TV reporter is more influential and Mr. Mahoney's reporting determines political and cultural reality for most people in this city.

ERIC WESSON

The voice of Kansas City's urban core. An advocate and one of the most informed journalists in the metro area.

TESS K.

Tess Koppelman is our favorite news storyteller and her feature reporting not only won an Emmy this year but also provided a great deal of insight into local life.

TRENDS

THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR

A rigged election, more empty promises and money burned for the sake of attracting tourists and condo dwellers that might never come this way. This is the strongest story of Kansas City politics at work.

KANSAS CITY'S HORRIFICALLY HIGH MURDER RATE

This should be at the top of the list but 2nd place is where Kansas City's powerfully high homicide number resides. So many local murders influence the course of Kansas City more than any other stat but sadly it's a topic that most of us would like to avoid considering in any comprehensive way.

MORE KANSAS CITY TAXES AND SPENDING

KC's bond rating took a hit and there's only more reckless spending in this town's future.

GOOGLE FIBER

Hope and change and tech marked the strongest story in KC this year.

THE MISSING $15K

Where's the money? Nobody seems to know but if the facts are ever revealed . . . This paltry amount could prove earth shattering for this town's power structure.

As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people.

  1. You didn't make the cut for your own list TKC.

    YOU LOSE!

  7. Northeast News? That's sad.

  8. Landsberg is not a journalist or a newsie, just a flack.

  9. Another Midtown Mom12/28/12, 10:30 PM

Very good Tony. It's nice to see you focus on the good things once in awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Eric Wesson? I was halfway taking you seriously, except for Deadbeat Cleaver on the list, until I got to Wesson. This guy is a MORON! He can't write, spell, edit, and has no concept of what "journalism" really is. He dresses like a pimp; you expect him to step out of a gold Grand Torino.

The Call is a joke, and Eric Wesson is the main reason for the paper's joke status.

  11. Mark Alford: Purveyor of Cool.

  12. The republicans now are veto proof after the November election....thank you democratic leadership!!

  14. I'd fuck Jason Kanders wife, Christa Dubill and Tess K in their ass. Then cum all over their face and tits. I'd even get it in their hair.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, if nothing else we have identified part of the TKC revenue stream with this list.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The only thing Victor is an "advocate" for is racsits and bigots.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Where is John Rizzo?

    ReplyDelete
  18. +1 9:04 PM This is definately what's wrong in Kansas City. Credit to Eric Wesson who is "well informed" according to nobody else but TKC.

The more accurate statement is he's more politically connected which doesn't necessarily translate into "well informed." He shouldn't be on the list and neither should many others featured here.

  19. Nothing but haters in KC.

That's what's wrong with this city and why it will never really be major league.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Eric Wesson is an illiterate troll.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Such a shame KC doesn't have more to offer.

  22. That was a good laugh on most of the politicians!!!!

Jason "I'm a war hero" Kander

Sly "I can't lose weight" James

Congressman "I'm a cheat and a liar" Cleaver

    Mike "I'm a charade" Sanders

    hahaha

  23. One of the things that really bothers me about the cowards who post on these blogs under the banner of freedom of speech is that no one signs their name. As a result you get to call me names, use racist language and make some of the silliest ass statements known to man. 5:47 is correct. Kansas City will never amount to anything, not because of those listed as the Power Brokers but because of the HATE that flows through this blog everyday. I lived in Kansas City for 2 years and worked as a camera man for a local news station and I've never seen anything like Kansas City. It was so draining! Half of the shit that is said here would never be said to the person's face.

    Carl Price

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ah, Carl, it would be said to many people's faces and has been. But with certain political types, retribution plays a big role. Speak the truth, and you pay a huge price. This blog is a relatively safe place to vent without losing your job, your safety, or worse.

  25. Cleaver looks like he's an auctioneer in action. Is he saying "Sold for $1.5 million!" for his Grandview car wash?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Welcome to KC, Carl...ha ha ha
