Kansas City's Old School Nichols Lunch Spot Returns To Greasy Spoon Traditional Fare

Fox4 profiles another restauranteur trying to reopen a location that should be an easy sell given that it survived for nearly 100 years pushing transfats on the high traffic Kansas City spot: "If you’re from Kansas City you probably remember the restaurant, ‘Nichol’s Lunch’. The Kansas City staple opened in the 1920′s. After 90 years in business it closed, but now a new owner is taking over and said he’s hoping to bring it back to its former glory."

  2. The Nichols Lunch was cool, as was it's name. Why isn't there anything else name "The XYZ Lunch" or something??

  6. Glad to see it's going back to be a traditional eatery for the late night crowd, much like Chubbies has always been.

Wish Putches on the Plaza would go back in...I loved the Coffee House; it was always crowded and popular. Course today, we have lots of chain eateries scattered from Zona Rosa all the way to Olathe.

  8. Had many a meal at Nichols at all hours of the day. Was always the same nothing fancy. Decent food that was fast and didn't make you wish an hour later you hadn't ate it.

  9. Burdella's favorite was fresh, young, hot sausage. No need to cook it there. He hooked up battery cables to it at home and fried it.

  11. Nichols was a great place to grab something to eat. I went there all the time for years and years. Putch's on the Plaza was also a great place to go. On Halloween you could see the parade of costumes all night long! Anybody remember Putch's cafeteria? The best roast beef and mashed potatoes in Kansas City!
