Kansas City Bad Ideas For Community Centers

Once again this town answers real questions with theoretical answers that only serve to embolden politicos.

Example:

Boxing, yoga and personal fitness training are top priorities that Kansas City community center patrons want to see come from a new sales tax for parks, according to a recent survey.

A much better way to improve a great many Community Centers: More Security.

Sadly, thanks to an incompetent leadership class that has given us YEARS of indifference on the topic of crime . . . This town would rather write a wishlist than get realistic.

  1. These survey instruments put togher by the Parks Dept. are completely unscientific, making the results unreliable and unsupportable.

How any Parks Board member could make decisions based on them is directly proportional to how lazy and stupid they are.

  2. Instead of yoga for old folks how about using the money to re-build Southwest Trafficway. There are some bizarre priorities in KCMO.

  3. Translation: I don't like the survey results, so I'll trash the survey and call Parks Board members names.

  5. For starters, why in the fuck would you survey existing community center users? (That's a rhetorical question. I know why they did it. Because it was easy and required the least amount of effort by P&R staff.) Shouldn't P&R be looking to offer programming that will expand their user base and get more customers into their community centers? Maybe ones who would even be willing to PAY to use the centers? Not to mention market distortion to private businesses (e.g. Gyms, yoga studios, etc.).

This "survey" is poorly conceived, superficial and not representative of the community at large. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
