Our favorite JoCo Blogger SOB WIRED takes his blogging to the next level by engaging in a bit of blogger beef discourse with the top cop in Overland Park. Everything is respectful and reasoned but it's a frank public discussion of policing in the burbs that didn't exist before blogs.

Community policing has existed in the suburbs before TKC even had electricity to his house (you do now, right?),much less before blogging.
ReplyDeleteSee, lots of folks throughout the metro understand that they are actually who is repsonsible for safety in their own neighborhoods and their close realtionships with the police make that cohesion that much more effective. And this has been going on since the invention of the dial telephone, or maybe before.
And in the absence of neighborhood vigilence, or even cooperation, the cops have to just run from one call to another and the thugs become more agressive day after day.
In KCK community policing throughout the city has been the norm for years. In KCMO the only community policing takes place out of the WestCAN Center. And KCK has lower crimepopulation and a much higher clearnace rate for violent crimes and homicides.
So why doesn't KCMO expand its program?
Good for this guy.
