MARC CASH FOR THE KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR!!!

Here's an afternoon look at Kansas City's screwed up priorities . . .

"The Mid-America Regional Council’s transportation committee this week blessed the city’s applications for two other federal grants totaling $18 million. The full MARC board is expected to follow suit."

We like the "blessed" line from Mike "I'm still here, damnit" Hendricks regarding the toy train that has minimal voter support in Kansas City and will cost this town for years to come.

  2. Maybe they can add a track to the nearest bridge for people to jump off when they run out of money paying for this fucking farce. Remember all the wonderful things the Metro was going to do for us?

  4. I hope they'll have guards in each train standing there with a machine gun for security. Especially on the weekend nights.

  6. $16 million of that will go to buy the four streetcars. The other $102 Million will mostly end up in you know who's pockets.

  9. MARC is a really lousy joke, foisted on the citizens of the area, not just KC. They piss away more money than the public has any grasp of. Talk about being overdue for a public audit! MARC is a slush fund for the good ole boy network.

  10. KC is only "blessed" to have quick access to the suburbs. It's like an escape route.

  11. How much does MARC get from the government for their tidy little downtown office building and staff to generate paper reports?

And what have they done that's useful to residents?

Maybe we should shut them down and spend the money on more cops. Or cross-town (Ks-Mo) bus drivers and buses to get REAL working people to work!
