you cant crack a case when all of the players are dead.

  3. The clearance rate for crimes happening today is in the dumper yet they spent countless hours and dollars flying all over the country tracking down leads on a case where they pretty much knew all the players were dead. What a great use of the taxpayer's money.

  4. They did have to appease certain groups that wanted the case reopened. The use of taxpayers money was still used to close a case, no matter how old it may be.

I agree, you can't blame the cops for this one. They were only responding to the political pressure being applied by certain connected people to get the case solved. Don't you imagine those detectives would have preferred to work on a case with current relevance? Once again, it's a good thing when politically connected and motivated people have influence and control over the police department - local control.

  6. "you can't blame the cops for this one. They were only responding to the political pressure" What?
I thought the whole reason for the BOPC was to prevent "bending" to political pressure. This is why I'm for local control the BOPC system does not work and this is a fine example of it.

  7. So under local control, there would be less political pressure? Rrrrrriiiiiiigggggghhhhhhttttttt.....

  8. Like duh. Look at the crime rate that has been going on for years. Obviously the results of a failed system.

  9. Actually, the SYSTEM works fine. It's just staffed by incompetents, PR con men, folks who are afraid of their own shadows, people covering their own butts, and totally lacking in accountability from top to bottom.
Rearranging the boxes on the organizational chart can't take the place of leadership and some basic management.
Or making public safety a priority.
    Are we Portland yet?

  10. The System does NOT work fine. If it worked well you would NOT have the WRONG people in those positions. The SYSTEM is BROKE.
