What's the surprise? Maybe posh party-goers will get punched in the stomach and have money ripped out of their wallet. Nah, they might get a toy train set and the rest of Kansas City will be left with the feeling like they've just been mugged by a small gang of "transit" enthusiasts.

  2. Just what we need. A “luxury project” and a “streetcar to nowhere.”

  3. Didn't the Fed's refuse to give us money for this simply because city hall doesn't know how to manage our money?

  8. Will it be safe to ride this thing?

Just asking, because it seems your police officers are justifiably pissed. Morale is low & they've lost their enthusiasm for their work. What happens when hipsters call 911 & no one gives a shit. The chief won't respond, he'll be busy his spending money.

  9. All of this milling around over something that is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for KCMO to ever get built and operated. It's fine for edgey downtowners to dream about being cool like Portland, but the people who run that city make the amateur real estate crowd at 12th and Oak look like exactly what they are.
All this will result in millions spent on planners, engineering, and consultants, and then it will join the hundreds of other grandiose ideas that KCMO has ignored as it's moved on to the next nifty and shiny bright object.
A couple billion dollars for sewer upgrades, millions to meet ADA requirements, millions to fix and replace water lines that regularly burst, streets that need to be replaced, and on and on.
And all that money has to come from the SAME folks, namely the residents of KCMO.
    Not a chance.
