TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! TAKE A LOOK AT THE EXPENSIVE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT CONSENT DECREE WITH KANSAS CITY JUST RELEASED!!!

Here's one of many ways Kansas City is desperately trying to catch up with major American cities despite years of fail.

For those who have been watching the news closely . . . It's clear that Kansas City has consistently been well behind the curve in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This is good law aimed at making our horrible little burg just a bit more accessible.

Just now . . .

TKC TIPSTERS DIRECT OUR ATTENTION TO THE KANSAS CITY ADA CONSENT DECREE!!!

Check it:

SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE CITY OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT DJ 204-43-195

There is a lot of good stuff in here regarding just how inaccessible our cowtown has been along with steps that we're going to have to take to make improvements.

Long story short . . .

THIS AGREEMENT WILL ADD MILLIONS TO KANSAS CITY'S BUDGET WHILE MAYOR SLY AND THE CITY COUNCIL ARE BUSY TRYING TO FIND MONEY FOR THE DUMB-ASS DOWNTOWN "TOY TRAIN" STREETCAR!!!

We've heard the sidewalk improvements alone could break Kansas City's budget.

And once again the question of priorities arises despite the fact Mayor Sly is still running Kansas City on his personal charm and a smile.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. People could just follow the Republican plan and not get sick.

  2. People could just follow the Democratic plan and give your money to the eastside grifters & go broke!!

  3. Typical failed city public works department. ADA problem was a very loud, very smokey neon train dead heading straight towards us. Upper staff thought we could just look the other way and every thing would be alright.

As for the tax increases... why generate $ bonds if we are in backroom talks to sell the assets of the water department. Will we be stuck with the bond bill and the new owners of our water assets start with a clean slate? we need specificity.

  4. I LOVE the new name: The Dumbass Downtown Toy Train or DADTT... Very descriptive.

  5. Have we been diverted from discussing the tax increase... by the streetcar?

Why aren't we talking TAXES? VOTING?

STREET CAR COULD BE TROJAN HORSE TO AVOID TAX INCREASE TALK, FROM THE TRUTH GETTING OUT, YOU THINK?

  6. Too bad the city employees aren't protected by the ADA settlement. The city won't hire disabled people and won't serve the staff who need help & protection.

  7. Just in time for the tax election and yet another opportunity for the council to quietly "move" funds from one account to another with an emergency ordinance right after it's over.
The Feds made them do it, you know. Even though most cities in the metro have been working on meeting these requirements for years.
How're the new downtown hotel and apartment projects coming? You know, the important things.

  8. Disabled people get all of the good parking places. It ain't fair.

  9. KC had 20 years to do this, but couldn't be bothered. Too busy with more important things like funnelling $ to other more connected citizens and their friends. Private landlords and employers fixed this years ago.

  10. Looks like somebody has their work cut out for them.

  11. 5:05, you are incorrect. Disabled people are being hired and accommodations are being made.
