This story of what could be workplace discrimination could be another embarrassment for Missouri and one of our beloved but beleaguered institutions.

Of course the Boy Scout angle might get a lot of people riled up regarding this story . . . Let's not forget recent efforts to change Missouri workplace Discrimination law that might also apply to this case and so many others out there like it.

ReplyDeleteFags DO NOT belong in Scouting. Yeah, there's always been queer scout masters but they were a learning experience on what to look out for in adult life. Dykes DO NOT belong in Scouting either. With regard to queer scouts, the rest of the normal scouts will take care of that, if left alone.

ReplyDeleteBy announcing his gayness to the camp director, Jones has ostensibly brought his sexuality into the Scouting program. Scouting is about camping, hiking, fishing, shooting, swimming, etc. Scouting is about promoting strong moral and religious values. Scouting is not about being gay or straight but that is what Jones and his apologists are trying to make it about.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been involved in Scouting as an adult volunteer for many years. It is not the role of any adult Scouting volunteer to have “the talk” with any youth involved in Scouting. Whether “the talk” is about how conception is achieved, how straight people have sex or how gay men or women engage in sex, it is not part of the Scout program, does not need to be a part of the Scout program and should be left to the parents to deal with as they see fit.
Sorry Eric Jones. You may be a nice kid, the Scouting program may have taught you a lot and I could not care less if you are gay, but don’t try to force your gayness into the Scouting program. It doesn’t fit and it doesn’t belong and by trying to force it on the program you now don’t fit and don’t belong.
Part of why Scouting is falling by the wayside: old-fashioned thinking like this.

This isn't about gays or discrimination. I agree with 1120. No one gives a shit if you are queer. But queer and the Boy Scout agenda don't mix and the Supreme Court says that is just fine. Now go find some other group that wants to talk about your sexual practices cause the Boy Scouts don't want to.
I hear they are going to make a movie about Jerry Sandusky. Rick Moranis is going to play Sandusky and it will be called: Honey, I Screwed the Kids! BTW, Rick Moranis is not dead, that is a false internet rumor.
